Alpinestars Frontier Gore-Tex Jacket

Please note that due to the extra layers in this jacket, it runs just slightly tight (with all the layers in). If you are in between sizes, choose the bigger of the two.

Wow, where to begin? I am thoroughly impressed with this jacket! If I had to pick just one jacket to do it all, the Gore-Tex® Frontier Jacket would be hard to beat! This has to be the most versatile motorcycle jacket I’ve seen in a long time. Definitely the biggest advantage the Frontier jacket has is its weather protection. Rarely do I say a jacket would be good from anywhere from cold winter temps to the heat of summer, but I really believe the Frontier can do it. There are two removable layers inside the jacket, one is your typical fully sleeved thermal liner, the next is a Gore-Tex® wind blocking, waterproof liner that can also be worn as its own light windbreaker/raincoat. (You could actually wear this with or without the thermal liner as well). Of course this Gore-Tex® liner means the jacket is waterproof too. Get into the hotter temperatures and this jacket really transforms. The biceps have typical zipper vents, and the sleeves have two way zippers to reveal vents there as well. What is really cool though are the large mesh panels on the torso – two on the front and one large panel on the back. The textile flaps of the jacket unzip and fold neatly into concealed pockets (so you don’t have to worry about losing them). With all of the vents open, this jacket should flow air almost as well as a true mesh jacket. Also remember that the waterproof liner is removable, so that really helps in that regard as well. For night-time visibility there are very nice, large reflective panels on the torso and upper arms, and the jacket is available with high-viz yellow accents as well. Comfort factor on this jacket is quite high as well. It is obvious that Alpinestars spared no expense when it came time to select materials. Everything from the micro-fleece collar to the internal stretch panels make this one comfortable jacket to wear. Adjustments to the fit of the jacket are made via internal draw cords which take up slack at the waist, midriff, forearms and upper arms; all of which help reduce wind drag and flapping. There’s no shortage of storage options, either. Two hand warmer pockets and two water resistant cargo pockets allow for plenty of storage on the exterior, while the interior has a zippered document pocket and three cargo pockets (in both the shell and the insulated liner). Protection abounds in the Frontier Jacket as well (what did you expect?). CE approved armor for the shoulders and elbows is removable, and there are foam pads in both the chest and the back as well. The chest and back protection can be upgraded (highly recommended) to the RC Back Protector and the Bionic Chest Pads for the ultimate in protection (see below). The exterior of the jacket is reinforced at key impact areas as well. Everything you see in yellow is a highly abrasion resistant nylon. Not only does the Frontier Jacket offer a ton of features and amazing versatility, it is a really sharp looking jacket as well.
