Sizing Information

We used a size 42 on our Fit Check Mannequin Shirley who is a standard size Large, Dress size 12. The jacket measured out correctly at 38” max chest. The cut of a longer touring style like this means the mid-torso of the jacket doesn’t taper down much at all from the chest size, but there are side waist adjusters that snug down the sides to fit well. This jacket also has adjustments on each side of the torso down low to help get a good fit over the hips.

Our Two Cents

The new Outback 3 jacket by REVIT is the third version of this jacket we’ve had in our store since 2013. This jacket is REVIT’s mid-priced touring jacket with full armor capability and a two liner setup and plenty of venting to cover most people’s climate control needs.

This jacket is one of the more moderately priced touring/adventure jackets from REVIT that offers enough climate control features to cover almost four seasons. It is designed with a “dual liner” system… one liner is waterproof and the other is thermal. You can choose whether to use the thermal liner, or the rainproof liner or both together depending upon the conditions you have at the moment. The thermal liner is pretty plushy and when combined with the rain liner (which will also effectively block wind too), you can use this jacket in pretty low temps.

For hot weather use, this jacket has a lot of zippered venting too. On the chest, there are two panels on the upper chest that can be opened to expose panels of mesh material. The panel design on the front ought to more air than a simple zip vent would. Also, the sleeve ends have zippered vents to allow air up the sleeves. And then finally on the back, there is a large horizontal exhaust vent across the shoulder blades. So with the venting, I think this jacket would be comfortable in all both the hottest days of summer.

The shell of this jacket is more simply designed than the more expensive jackets like this in REVIT’s lineup so the pricing of the jacket remains reasonable. But even still it has some nice features such as a decent selection of pockets including a large fanny pouch, reflective patches for nighttime visibility and sizing adjusters on the sides of the torso and on the sleeves. It also has REVIT’s collar design which includes a size adjuster and a tie-back loop if you want to run with the collar open. The top edge of the collar is rolled neoprene so it won’t rub your neck.

Full CE level 2 armor is included with the jacket for the shoulders and elbows, which seems to be REVIT’s standard these days. You can add a back protector and/or chest protectors too. With the back and chest protectors installed, this jacket has the best armor package available from REVIT (aside from race jackets with external armor). Just have a look at the sizing advice below for the back pad and take the links at the bottom of this page to buy both the back protector and the chest pads if you like.

If you want to make a full riding suit, consider the Outback 3 pants. Or, if you plan on wearing your own riding jeans, then have a look at REVIT’s Safeway belt option. You can use that belt to secure the tail of the jacket to your jeans using the belt and the rear zipper supplied in the back of the jacket.

So you can see, there is a lot of jacket here for the money. :: Paul, 02-28-19

Add a Back Protector: This jacket is made with a pocket to accept a Seesoft CE Level 2 Back Protector Insert type RV (RV refers to the shape). For women’s size 36 choose size 3; for 38 to 44, choose size 4 and for 46 and larger choose size 5. Please use the link at the bottom of this page to buy.

REVIT says: The Outback 3 Ladies jacket showcases the famous REV’IT! female fit and all the features needed for a daily commute, as well as multi-day touring. It also offers the essentials required for a comfortable ride in various conditions: protection, ventilation and plenty of storage. A detachable and waterproof hydratex®|Mesh G-liner and detachable thermal liner will keep you dry and warm in wet and windy situations. Plenty of VCS vents for air circulation and various adjustability options all add up to competent garment. The jacket comes equipped with SEEFLEX™ CE-level 2 protection at the shoulders and elbows. It can then be upgraded with a SEESOFT™ CE-level 2 back protector, Challenger Cooling Vest and Neon Connector Vest.
