Sizing Information

We measured a selection of these jackets and also tried them on our Fit Check mannequins Huey and Dewey to see how they fit (Huey is in a Euro 52 and Dewey is in a 56) and they both look great. The overall fit is consistent with other European sized jacket we sell such as Alpinestars and REVIT.

This product is sold in European sizes. Generally speaking, the US chest size in inches is equivalent to roughly 10 points less than the European jacket size. Example: a 56 Euro jacket is similar to a size 46/XL men’s US size. To choose a size in this jacket, I’d suggest you measure yourself with a tape and get your chest size and belly size, then use the size chart to pick the smallest size jacket that will be big enough for both your chest and belly using the chart below. Approximate US alpha sizes are also listed in the chart so you can check if the jacket size you choose is the same alpha size as you normally wear in men’s clothing.

Sizing tips for upgrading armor: If you plan to add a back protector add 1” to your measured chest/belly size before using the size chart. If you plan on adding chest pads, add an additional 1” to your chest size (chest pads do add to belly size).

The overall cut of this particular style jacket is more casual than many Dainese jackets… I’d call it a street cut. The taper from chest to belly is only moderate… about 4”. For comparison, race jackets will have a “drop” from chest to waist of about 6”-8”, and very casual cruiser style jacket may only taper about 2” or even less. This jacket will work fine for most body types and it has adjustments for fit in the bicep, wrist and waist. The body length of the torso is consistent with a street/sport jacket, meaning the jacket will come only down to the belt line or slightly below.

Our Two Cents

The Air Crono 2 jacket is a great choice for hot summer riding. It offers flow through mesh construction with a sharp sporty look. Shoulder and elbows armor are standard and CE rated back and chest pads are available.

This jacket is mostly a mesh jacket and the weave of the mesh used is wide open so the air flow through this jacket will be ideal for hot weather. You can layer under it with your own undergarments and lower the usable temp range some, so its best weather range will be cool to hot weather. This jacket does not have any waterproofing features, so you’ll need a rain jacket over if you get into a rain.

The overall fit is easy and comfortable. The weight of the basic jacket is very light. The shouder and elbow areas are overlayed with solid textile material that will beef up the abrasion resistance characteristics in those crash prone areas. The armor in the shoulders and elbows is a light weight hard plastic over foam type that has been around for years. It works well and is very comfortable. If you add a back protector and chest pads, the crash protection package will be pretty darn beefy as compared to most summer mesh styles. Many Alpinestars jacket also offer the optional back and chest pads, so the protection should be similar to like Alpinestars jackets (which is to say quite good).

Like most other Dainese jackets, this one offers sharp styling and excellent build quality. This one is a winner for hot weather! :: Paul, 07-23-18

Note about armor upgrades: This jacket has a pocket to insert a back protector and/or chest armor. We recommend the Pro Armor G back protector because of its light weight and its air flow-properties although the back pad pocket of this jacket can accept the Mainis D1 G or Wave D1 G as well. Take the link below to read about the back protector options. The recommended chest armor is the Pro-Armor Chest Protector. The chest armor pockets on the jacket will only accommodate this style chest armor.

Dainese says: A light, sports-cut ventilated summer jacket for cool rides on the hottest days. Advanced D-Synth 350 fabric ensures light weight, while extensive mesh fabric panels really let the cooling air flow. Adjustable sleeves and wrists give full control and a long back provides full coverage, even when carving the curves in a racing crouch. This jacket’s no slouch on safety either, with CE shoulder and elbows armor and a jacket-to-pants zipper.
