Sizing Information

We measured a sampling of these jeans of different waist sizes and lengths and find they are much like other jeans you’d buy these days. They are just a bit “vanity” sized in the waist. Across the size run, the actual measured waist was about 2” larger than the stated waist size (typical vanity sizing). And of course these are denim and although they are a cotton/Kevlar blend, they may shrink just a tad too.

So my overall advice would be to buy the waist size you normally wear in jeans; you’ll likely find a fit. If you aren’t sure whether your jeans are vanity sized like I’m describing, then either measure your waist where your normal jeans ride or measure your favorite pair of jeans to verify. You’ll probably find that you measure out a bit bigger than your normal jeans size and also the waist of your favorite jeans measures out an inch or two bigger than their stated size. If so, you will be on track following my advice.

The inseam lengths on the pants measure about about 31” for the smaller jean sizes and gradually increase with waist size to about 32” for the larger jeans. This is a bit shorter than the average inseam length we sell, so if you sometimes need 34” jeans, I’m afraid you are out of luck, but if you buy 30s or 32s, then you’ll be good.

Our Two Cents

The Dalton jeans give abrastion protection by infusing Kevlar in the cotton material rather than lining the jeans with Kevlar material. It make for a lighter, tougher feeling fabric.

The denim used in these jeans reminds me of the unwashed Levis jeans I wore years ago. I know this style of jean has become fashionable lately, especially among the “garage” crowd of motorcyclists. The overall fit is very standard… not too slim and not too baggy. The rise is low as compared to riding pants and many riding jeans. The fly is button and the pocket setup is very normal with two hand pockets in front and to rear patch pockets. There is no armor included nor any provisions to add armor. The draw here is the material which has Kevlar already woven into the fabric to beef up the abrasion resistance capability. If you turn the jeans inside out, you can clearly see the yellow fibers woven in.

I personally like the overall cut and style of these jeans. Pay heed to our sizing advice with regard to inseam though… these won’t work for taller people. :: Paul, 03-22-18

Roland Sands says: The Dalton Jean has a ton of great features that will keep your game tight both on and off the bike and provide all day wear-ability. The Dalton Jean has a slim / straight low rise fit, button fly and a supple raw denim hand that you would expect from a premium pair of jeans. We have created a unique material that increases protection but still wears like your favorite pair of jeans but with motorcycle functionality. The denim is comprised of 70% 12.5 oz cotton and is reinforced with 30% Dupont™ Kevlar ® that is woven together to create a tough material that provides abrasion, heat and slide protection. This material also keeps the fit consistent and the Dalton will retain their shape after any wash cycle. We then laced out the Dalton Jean with the very best in construction features like reinforced triple stitching on the inseam and back rise and a reinforced double layer back pant cut off that to ensure top notch impact burst protection. Lastly, we added quilt stitched details and custom RSD trims that have become a staple in premium RSD Apparel products.
