Sizing Information

We measured a sampling of these jeans of different waist sizes and lengths and find they are much like other jeans you’d buy these days. They are just a bit “vanity” sized in the waist and pretty true in the length. Across the size run, the actual measured waist was just a bit larger than the stated waist size (about 1” in the smaller sizes and about 2” in the bigger sizes which is typical vanity sizing). And of course, these are denim and may shrink just a tad too. The jeans have SeeSmart hip protectors installed. The hip armor is quite thin and flexible so I don’t think they’ll make a difference in the size choice of jeans if you choose to wear them. So my overall advice would be to buy the waist size you normally wear in jeans; you’ll likely find a fit. If you aren’t sure whether your jeans are vanity sized like I’m describing, then either measure your waist where your normal jeans ride or measure your favorite pair of jeans to verify. You’ll probably find that you measure out a bit bigger than your normal jeans size and also the waist of your favorite jeans measures out an inch or two bigger than their stated size. If so, you will be on track following my advice.

The inseam lengths measured out about right as compared to the stated size, BUT there are a couple of considerations here… first, these jeans come standard with knee armor and the knees are reinforced with a layer of an abrasion resistant material. Those two features add a bit of thickness and when you sit, that means the inseam gets a bit shorter than you might expect. You’ll also want to decide if you want to roll your jeans up at the cuff or not. Many people do, so add some inseam if you want to do that. Also, there is a reflective strip on the inside seam at the bottom that only shows when the ends are rolled. So with those considerations in mind I’d recommend you buy one size longer than you normally wear. If between sizes, choose the longer.

Our Two Cents

The Micah TF jeans from REV’IT! are truly remarkable, they look like a family normal and classic everyday 5 pocked jean in a tapered fit, yet at the same time they are a CE AAA rated piece of protective motorcycle equipment. That’s quite the accomplishment as AAA ratings used to be reserved exclusively for leather track style pants. What’s even more remarkable is that in trying these jeans on back to back with another pair of REV’IT! jeans that were AA rated, there wasn’t a drastic change in comfort, fit or movement. That’s quite impressive.

From a look and design standpoint the Micah TF jeans come in a dark blue color with some light fading and look like a standard pair of jeans when you are off the bike. The protection for these jeans comes from the included SEESMART CE-Level 1 at both the knees and hips, with the knees being adjustable. Safety seams and triple needle stitching to ensure the pants stay together as well as a double layer of PWR shield at the hips, knees and the seat. PWR Shield is created with a unique knit technique that results in a fabric with unsurpassed cut, tear and abrasion resistance. Having the double layer of PWR Shield in these key areas is what allowed the Micah TF jeans to achieve that AAA rating. Overall construction of the jeans is provided by 16oz Cordura® denim which features a reflective strip on the inside of each pant leg that can be see when the pantalets are rolled up, something we have come to expect from REV’IT! jeans.

Another way to add comfort and functionality with these jeans is to pair the featured belt loops with REV’IT!’s line of Safeway belts to keep these jeans connected to your favorite REV’IT! Jacket.

A few things to note with these jeans is that they are a tapered fit, this means that basically from the knee down they are more or less a skinny jean but above the knee they have more room. I for example like the look of skinny jeans but can’t quite fit in them because of larger thighs and upper legs, this is where a tapered fit comes in handy allowing for additional room up top while hugging the leg under the knee. Even though these pants are narrower and like a slim fit below the knee I still had no trouble in getting my feet in and out of the bottom of the pant legs and did not struggle with the calf area either, something that is common for me in most other jeans that are slim fit or tapered fit. Another item to note is that the Micah TF Jeans feature a button fly front closure, for some people that is a deal breaker, so we wanted to make sure to point that out.

Overall this is a great pair of jeans that will keep you well protected while still looking casual and like you are wearing a normal pair of jeans off of the bike. In trying these jeans on they were not noticeably bulkier or heavier feeling than the AA rated REV’IT! Ortes TF jeans for example which is quite the accomplishment considering their AAA rating, on the flip side, yes of course they were a bit heavier feeling than regular jeans, they are protective after all, but not to the point where it was super noticeable in walking and standing around in them. REV’IT! is known for taking the safety of their jeans very seriously, especially in this pair where they achieved a AAA rating, so if you are looking for a pair of riding jeans that is good looking but will still keep you safe the Micah TF jeans are a great place to start. :: Damir 3-14-24
