Sizing Information

Fit of these jackets is pretty standard. Use the chart below to select a jacket size based upon what you would normally wear in men’s clothing. The size Med and XL fit Huey and Dewey very nicely!

The taper of this jacket is about average (meaning how much smaller the waist/belly is than the chest), and will be great for nearly any type of street rider. Joe Rocket’s sizing chart lists the recommended waist range. The jacket has a lot of waist size adjustment. If you have a bit of a belly, you can check that too. The max belly for any given size is about 6” less than the stated chest size. Just throw a tape measure around yourself and check your chest and belly against the chart info.

Our Two Cents

Joe Rocket’s Velocity jacket embraces the notion of “less is more”. I review a TON of new products every year and this will be my 14th year. It is natural for companies to continue to innovate… they all want to be able to claim something new… more features, better quality, etc, etc. And of course all that adds to the cost of the product. Heck I remember a product line we chose NOT to even sell after we reviewed it and decided it had too many features for an average Joe to even figure out (don’t get me started… ha)! Well, Joe Rocket was one of the first to bring a summer mesh jacket to market maybe 8 or 9 years ago?? with the Phoenix. And that Phoenix had a basic list of features that pretty well matches this jacket and all for a price that is just about as affordable as it was 8 years ago! The jacket has a full mesh shell with textile reinforcements in the shoulders and elbows. And it has dual density foam armor in the shoulders, elbows and back. You also get a feature you’ll really come to enjoy… a removable full-sleeve windproof and waterproof liner to help if the weather cools a bit or it gets rainy. These main features along with a few other basics are what I’d consider to be a pretty strong basic package. For most people, it will be everything you’ll need for a dedicated hot weather jacket. And with the short list of extras, the jacket winds up being lighter too, which I noticed right away when I tried one on. Take the “View Larger Images” link above to see a complete set of photos that show everything. Overall, I think this jacket is a good value and I appreciate the fact that Joe Rocket is making a basic jacket with quality construction at a price that people can afford. :: Paul, 05-05-12

I have had this jacket for 5 months now, and it works great as an entry level summer jacket. I like the 4 belt loop rings instead of a single that a lot of jackets have. Air Flow is good, Padding is good. (Read more...)
