Our Two Cents

The Stylmartin Piper Air is a riding shoe that is light, breathable and casual in style, designed to look good and be comfortable both on and off the bike. Design wise it is a mixture of a boot and a street shoe and is designed to perform well and keep you comfortable in the warm summer weather. Overall construction is suede leather with leather inserts and collar, anatomic replaceable and perforated anti-shock cushioning insoles, and rubber tread outsoles made by Michelin with an EVA midsole.

Looking at protection the Piper Air shoes feature molded PU and D30 protective ankle inserts that are featured on both sides, reflective laces and reflective inserts on the pull tabs, and a CE Level 1 rating. Other notable features include perforation on the inside of the tongue and top of shoe, as well as minimal and subtle Stylmartin branding.

Overall I felt that the Piper Air shoes were comfortable and not too heavy in my time wearing them, and could see them being comfortable all day. One thing I noted immediately in putting them on while standing on a laminate floor is just how grippy the soles were, while standing, my usual pair of Vans could slide back and forth on the floor, but I couldn’t get the Piper Air shoes too budge, so hopefully that gives you and idea on the level of grip. One final note is on sizing, the Stylmartin size chart is pretty spot on for most sizes, but I did notice that I was comfortable in a size 45 (normally I wear a 46 or 47 in other European brands, and the 45 translates to a 11.5 US on their size chart, but I wear a size 12 US in most shoes), so something to note. I would say follow the size chart and if you find yourself somewhere between sizes go with the smaller size. :: Damir 6/15/24
