REV'IT! Airwave 3 Pants (XXL Short, XS, MD, Or 3XL Only)

YKK slide lock front closure: This unique front closure works like a slide lock and once closed it won’t open up spontaneously. The slide locks into a conical shaped slider ensuring they won’t separate until you want them to.

The Strapper can be connected to the short connection zipper at the back and the specially made hook and loop attachment point on the front side. The suspenders are compatible with a selection of trousers from the REV’IT! collection.

Calf zippers

Grip panel at seat: The grip panel at the seat ensures you stay in control in all weather conditions and won’t slide in your seat at any time. A key feature for any rider, pillion passengers will also appreciate this extra level of performance.

Short connection zipper: Can be used to attach to REViT jackets or to connect Strapper Suspenders

Ventilation panels: The ventilation panels on this garment allow for optimal airflow to keep the body cool while riding.

Sizing Information

We measured and tried on a selection of these pants and developed the table below to help you choose a size that is right for you. REVIT publishes a sizing chart but strangely they offer hip measurements rather than waist measurements, and in the US, waist measurements are the norm. Please note, the sizes listed in the chart are NOT “vanity” sized like typical jeans sold in the US (meaning jeans that measure out larger than the stated size), so buying based on a jean size maybe result in a REVIT pant choice that is too small. We recommend you either measure your waist or measure pants you already own (use the instructions below for help in measuring).

These pants are available in regular, short and tall inseam sizes, so we’ve included inseam lengths in the chart as well. The pants have adjustability of the armor height (independent of inseam length). Velcro tabs in the armor pockets allows you to set the armor at different heights in the pant leg. You can check how the armor feels on your knee when you are sitting on the bike and decide which position seems best. Neat!

Also, the pants have an adjustable strap arrangement at the waist to help you fine tune the fit. We are showing a three inch range which was about what the adjusters seemed to do.

Pant Size Waist Estimate Inseam Reg Inseam Short Inseam Tall
Small 29-31 31.5 - -
Med 31-34 32.5 31 34.5
Large 33-36 33 31.5 35
XL 35-38 33.5 32 35.5
XXL 38-41 33.5 32 35.5
XXXL 41-44 34 32 -
XXXXL 43-46 34 - -

Measurement tips: You’ll want to measure yourself fairly high up the waist because protective style pants like this are cut to ride higher on your waist than a lot of modern jean styles. Just below the navel is about the right height on the waist for measurement.

Use as overpants: These pants will likely be used as both overpants over street clothes or as pants over underwear or shorts because many riders will be wearing these in the heat of summer. Since the waist of these pants is relatively high (as discussed above) the waist will ride above the waist line of normal jeans and therefore, I don’t think you will want to up-size with the idea of using them as overpants. But, I would advise that if you are pushing the upper limit of a size or you are between sizes, to choose the larger.

Our Two Cents

REVIT’s new Airwave 3 Pants for 2020 are the third update on their best selling and most affordable pants for hot summer riding. These pants have excellent venting and are equipped as standard with knee and hip armor.

We’ve been selling Airwave pants for nearly 10 years, and the folks at REVIT have slowly revised the design with each update. The Airwave is an excellent product, so there isn’t much room for BIG improvements here, but these are the three things I see for this 3rd version: 1) the night time reflectives are larger and more visible; 2) the knee armor is upgraded from a molded rubber unit to a honeycomb rubber which vents better and is a bit thinner; 3) the pocket position is now in front and horizontal rather than vertical on the hips; the base MSRP went down ten bucks.. yeah!

You can pair the Airwave 3 pants with the Airwave 3 jacket (take the link below) and you’ll have yourself a great summertime riding outfit. Or if you have another jacket you wear, you could use these pants with those… you don’t have to wear both pieces. Most of this pant is made of a tight weave mesh material, that from a short distance looks like regular pant material. It is a tight enough weave you can wear the pants over underwear without showing through like you sometimes see with broader weave mesh pants. And you could wear these pants as “commuter pants” over jeans or shorts too. Keep in mind this pant is designed for warm to very hot temps. There are no provisions to cut down the airflow and they have no provisions to keep out the rain. As a comparison, you can also have a look at REVIT’s Tornado jackets and pants. The Tornado adds a removable layer to the jacket and pant to give some wind blocking, waterproofing, and insulation along with a higher price tag of course. So if your travels will take you through more varied weather conditions maybe look at the Tornado line.

These pants are equipped with knee and hip armor as standard so there is nothing else to buy. The knees are fitted with molded CE level 1 armor and the height of the armor in the pant leg is adjustable. And the hips have a very thin and flexible armor, so those should be very comfortable to wear.

At the bottom of the pant leg, there is a zipper that opens up to about 14” from the bottom. That MIGHT be enough to help pull a shoe through, but if you are wearing boots, you’ll need to take them off in order to take the pants off. So these pants aren’t primarily made as an “overpant”, but they could be worn that way. And, as I mentioned, they’d certainly be appropriate to wear just as pants over underwear (which would be ideal for hot summer days).

These pants, like many other REVIT pants, are set up to be used with the Strapper Suspenders. If you are a suspenders fan, then grab a set of those, and attach them. You can attach the jacket to the pants with or without the suspenders. And if you wanted to use these pants with any other jacket, the suspenders would be a good option (since you won’t have a compatible zipper in your jacket).

REVIT gets my prize for the best waist setup in the motorcycle pant world. which is worth a mention. The waist closure mechanism is VERY substantial, easy to use and won’t pop open under pressure. And the waist has a very nice adjustment set up on each side of the waistband.

Even though the Airwave 3 is their “entry level” hot weather pant, the overall quality is just as good as any of their riding products, and I think you’ll enjoy a very long product life that works well for you. :: Paul, 01-30-20

REVIT says: Keep cool and protected during rides in higher temperatures with the REV’IT! Airwave 3 trousers. These stylish and affordable trousers are designed specifically for hot weather riding. Airflow to the body is provided by PWR|shell mesh panels at the front and back of the garment. They are equipped with the comfortable and lightweight CE-level 1 SEESMART™ armor at the knees and hips to keep riders safe and protected in case of a mishap. The adjustment straps at the waist can be used to get the perfect fit to your body. The Airwave 3 trousers are designed to be worn on top of jeans or shorts if needed.

I've worn theses mesh pants 4-5 times a week over the last month and love them! The fit is slim but, full enough that cargo shorts can easily be worn underneath. I am 6' and have have about a 30-31" inseam and the short work perfectly. The two fro... (Read more...)

I wanted riding pants in silver to avoid the heat load on summer days, but still needed knee and hip protection. The Revit Airwave 3 looked good, and they do a pretty decent job of keeping padding in the right place while still flowing air. Unfo... (Read more...)
