The Outlander H2Out is offered in two different cuts. The jacket sold on this product page is the “robust” version. There is also a “standard” Outlander H2Out sold on a separate product page. The standard cut jacket is sized like other Spidi jacket, which has a trim “European” cut similar to other European brands such as Dainese and runs smaller than standard US sized garments. It is ideal for taller/trimmer builds. The “robust” cut sold on this page is cut larger through the chest and belly by about one size, but the overall height and sleeve length is the same as the standard. It is built for a more “American” build which tends to be broader in the torso for a given height. We’ve included a link at the bottom of this page to view the “standard” version jacket.
This jacket is sold in “alpha” sizes (Small, Med, Large, etc). With the Robust sizing, this Spidi jacket lines up with chest and belly sizes sold in the US. Our basic advice is to buy the same size you wear in US men’s clothing.
To help you confirm the size you need in this jacket, I’ve put together the sizing chart below. You’ll want to measure yourself with a tape around both your chest and belly and choose a size using the chart. We’ve included a waist/belly measurement so you can make sure you are buying a jacket that is large enough for both your chest and belly.
The mid-section of this jacket isn’t cut as trim as a more sporty style jacket, and it has a very effective size adjustment setup through the belly and waist, so as long as the jacket’s max belly measurement is big enough for you, you should be able to find a fit even if you are much trimmer than the max belly size.

Note: If you plan on adding a back protector to this jacket, add 1” to your chest and belly measurements before using the size chart.
Our Two Cents
The Spidi Outlander H2Out is a fully featured 3/4 style jacket for many styles of riding including touring and adventure. This jacket has a waterproof shell with venting for warmer weather and a removable thermal liner for colder weather too. Armor is included for the shoulders and elbows and standard and back protection is optional.
Note on sizing: The “robust” Outlander H2Out sold on this product page. The Robust cut is built for a more “American” build which tends to be broader in the torso for a given height. We’ve included a link at the bottom of this page to view the “standard” version jacket. Please have a look at the sizing advice on this page to know if the robust jacket is for you.
I find this jacket to be fully featured but wonderfully simple. It is basically a “bonded” waterproof shell with nice venting for summer use and also very plush removable thermal liner for colder weather use. The venting systems is quite simple but offers a good deal of airflow into the jacket. There are a couple of triangular shaped flaps on the upper-chest area that can be zippered open and snapped up and out of the way to expose some perforated textile material that will allow very good airflow into the jacket. And in back, there are a couple of zippered exhaust vents too to allow air to pass on through. These vents are “direct” meaning the air is not blocked by the waterproof lining which is a much better setup than jackets that have a separate waterproof liner. Note however this style doesn’t have any sort of sleeve venting, so consider this jacket for warmer weather but not hot summer weather.
For colder weather, you can seal off the vents and snap in the full-sleeve thermal liner. This liner is thicker and plusher than most jackets and I think it will give very good warmth. The shell of the jacket is waterproof and naturally provides the wind-block capability, so with the liner installed you should be set for winter months.
I mentioned the “bonded” textile shell. Construction like this where the waterproofing layer is bonded to the textile shell is a premium product and you’ll see similar construction in top brands… some with the GoreTex brand name. Spidi uses their own “house brand” technology called H2Out. Anyway, with this construction, you get a few big advantages. First is the venting that I mentioned above. Vent openings allow airflow directly through the shell to your body. Another advantage is weight. Since the layers are “one” the result is a lighter overall jacket as compared to waterproof jackets with a completely separate waterproofing layer. One other key thing is that since the waterproof layer is bonded to the textile, the textile material doesn’t become waterlogged and will repel the water. In non-bonded jackets, water soaks through the shell and is repelled by a separate inner layer.
Armor is included for this jacket in the shoulders and elbows. It is Spidi’s Warrior Lite armor which is relatively light and very flexible. It is rated CE 2 which is premium. The jacket is fitted with a pocket and Velcro to mount one of the optional back protectors. I’ve listed the options below, and if you click through to any of those back protectors, there is a pretty good discussion of the similarities and differences between them to help you decide which one you want.
One thing I really like about this jacket is the ability to adjust the fit. There are straps and snaps on the arms and the torso to really make this work. We’ve seen similar set-ups with REVIT which work nicely too. A longer body style like this works well with torso adjustment straps. Even if you are relatively thin and snug them down a lot, the jacket still looks and feels great.
Overall, this is a very nicely styled jacket with a lot of sizing options to fit nearly anybody. :: Paul, 04-07-20
Spidi says: The Spidi Outlander H2Out Jacket was developed with the aim to build a laminated jacket ideal for winter and summer climates. To achieve the target we created an innovative seamless air intake system positioned on the chest with excellent performance in terms of waterproofness and ventilation. The main chassis of the Outlander H2Out is made from a waterproof, breathable and windproof laminated combination of high tenacity polyamide and H2Out. A removable 200 gram thermally insulated liner comes with each jacket, as well as 3M® Scotchlite® reflective zones, and multiple vents for staying cool in warmer weather. Each jacket comes with CE certification as protective clothing for motorcycle use certified to the Pr EN 17092-3:2017 Class AA standard, as well as Warrior Lite Level 2 removable protectors (CE certified EN 1621-1:2012 Lev.2) for the shoulders and elbows. The Outlander H2Out makes use of the Spidi integrated adjustment Ergofit System to ensure a perfect fit, it also features an adjustable E.S.T. fastening on the collar, an adjustable waist, and an adjustable drawstring at the hem. For additional safety a jacket-to-pants zipper connection comes as standard, and each jacket has 2 waterproof external pockets, a waterproof Napoleon internal pocket, and a waterproof internal pocket. For those who want the absolute maximum possible protection, the jacket has pockets for both back and chest protectors which are sold separately.
