Sizing Information

We checked the sizing of this style with our Fit Check mannequins Huey and Dewey. They are wearing size Medium and XL jackets respectively. These are their “usual” sizes and they fit just fine. We also checked the chest and belly of the other sizes and find them to fit OK too. Therefore, we recommend you choose the size you normally wear in men’s clothing.

Overall, I find this model to run roomy as compared to some Cortech jacket models, but about the same as a typical Tour Master jacket (Cortech’s sister brand). Those with an average to stout build will find a comfortable fit, but those with a thin build and/or those who like a snug fit will probably find the torso to fit loose.

If you want to make a size selection with your chest and belly measurements, use the chart below which lists max chest and max belly sizes for each jacket size. The measurements in the chart are a combination of the manufacturer’s size chart and also the measurements we take on the product samples. After you measure, you can choose a jacket size using the chart that will accommodate both your chest and belly.

Alpha Size Max Chest Size Max Belly Standard Sleeve Length
Small 41 39 25.5
Medium 43 41 26
Large 45 43 26.5
XL 47 45 27
XXL 49 47 27.5
XXXL 52 50 27.5
XXXXL 55 53 28
XXXXXL 57 55 28

Our Two Cents

The Hi-Boy Jacket by Cortech is a new entry into their “Boulevard Collection” for 2021. This is a textile shell street rider’s jacket with armor included for the shoulders and elbows. A back protector is available.

I just finished looking at the Trans-Am leather jacket, which has many of the same styling queues as this jacket… the flashy liner and the gold hardware, but this one being a textile jacket, is significantly lighter in weight and priced to leave your wallet a whole lot heavier. There are two color choices in the darker versions… one is all-black and the other has dark navy shoulders/arms. You’ll have to look at the close-ups to see the navy. From 10 feet, I’m not sure you’d see any difference. Personally, I like the grey version with the black/white checkerboard, but that’s just me. Anyway, it’s a sharp style, and definitely something different!

You can use this jacket most of the year. It will work well from cooler days to hot days. The lighter weight textile will help keep it comfortable. There are a couple of zip vents on the chest and on the back too. Wear some layers underneath to take this into colder days.

Inside you’ll find two “gun pockets” down low, but they’ll be useful for carrying anything really. But for a gun, they are reasonably deep and slant downward to accommodate a barrel. I like the looks of the pocket zippers on the lower front and chest with the rubberized closure. And around the edge of the collar is a nicely padded roll of neoprene for comfort against your neck. :: Paul, 02-22-21

About the armor: Cortech is featuring SafeTech brand armor in their 2020 and later products. The jacket includes shoulder and elbow armor inserts that are CE level 2 rated. The material is a more flexible and “squishy” rubberized material, which I think is an improvement in comfort over past designs using less flexible black solid rubber. The jacket has a fabric pocket for a back protector so you have the option to buy a CE rated back protector by SafeTech for about twenty bucks, something I’d recommend (see the link below).

The Hi-Boy Jacket is a size large, where MG's size chart says that a size large should accommodate a maximum chest size of 45". For reference, I am 5'10", 185lbs, 43 inch chest and 34 inch jeans waist. The jacket in large fits me perfectly. I a... (Read more...)
