Sizing Information

This jacket has a relaxed cut which will be an easy fit for most people. The cut is roomy which is typical for Scorpion’s non-race street jackets. We put the size Medium in this jacket on Huey and we put an XL jacket on Dewey. These are the sizes they normally wear and both fit with room to spare.

My advice would be to choose the size you normally wear in men’s clothing, and if you are between sizes and/or prefer a more snug fit, then choose smaller. You can also choose a size based upon your measurements. Measure your chest and belly and choose the smallest jacket that will be big enough for both your chest and belly. This jacket has side waist adjustment straps to cinch down the waist if your waist/belly is smaller than the max.

Jacket Size Max Chest Max Belly
Small 36-38 36
Medium 38-42 38
Large 42-44 42
XL 44-46 44
XXL 46-48 46
XXXL 48-50 48
XXXXL 50-52 50
XXXXXL 52-54 52

Note: At the time of this writing, we don’t have sizes 4XL and 5XL in stock to measure, so the measurements in the chart are an educated guess.

Our Two Cents

The Vortex Air jacket by Scorpion is their new full mesh, hot weather jacket for 2019. This jacket comes with armor for the shoulders and elbows and space for an optional back protector. It also has a removable waterproof/windproof liner.

The Vortex Air jacket will be just the thing for summer riding. This is a full mesh jacket. But at first glance, you might think it only has mesh in key areas. In the underarms and across the chest they use a very open weave mesh, but then for the front of the torso and back it is a tighter weave mesh that looks like a solid textile. But even though it might look like only a partial mesh jacket, basically the whole jacket is flow through mesh except for reinforcement panels over the shoulders and elbows.

The styling of this jacket is very neutral, so just about any type rider would like it. And the overall cut is relaxed and easy to wear. It definitely has an “American” cut to it, so those with larger frames and/or those who just don’t like snug fitting jackets will like the overall style. Even though it has a relaxed cut, it has adjustment straps on the arms and at the waist so you can fine tune the fit.

Inside the jacket is a removable waterproof and windproof liner. The liner can be used in wet weather and it also can be used as a wind blocker in cooler temps to make the jacket more comfortable for you. You could even wear some heavier clothing under the liner to get use out of the jacket in spring and fall.

Standard CE rated armor is included for the shoulders and elbows. You can add a back pad too (take the link below). Overall, I think this is a very nice looking and comfortable jacket. I have only one gripe: the sleeve ends are trimmed with a roll of neoprene material to make the jacket more comfortable, but they failed to trim the back side of the rolled neoprene. Its not a big deal, but you’ll notice it when you stick your arm through the sleeve because the back side of the neoprene is rubberized and feels kind of weird. It’s just a minor tailoring flaw, but I thought it was worth a mention in case you might think it was a stitching defect. :: Paul, 05-15-19

Scorpion says: When you’re ready to ride in the summer, you’re ready for the Scorpion Vortex Air Jacket. Constructed from a lightweight Rhino-Mesh chassis with mesh panels under arms, upper chest and upper back, the Vortex Air was made for the heat. But when the clouds roll in, zip in the 100% waterproof liner for protection from precipitation.
