REV'IT! Restless Jacket
If we could take a trip back to the early 1940s California, we could experience West Coast moto culture at one of its peaks. Carefree days of riding along the Pacific Coast Highway and feeling the salty air against our skin. To recreate that feeling, we designed the Restless motorcycle jacket. An homage to simplicity yet elegance in craft. While we can’t bring the past to the future (the leathers wouldn’t pass modern CE certifications!) we can take inspiration from it and enhance it by using modern-day tech.Adjustability:
- Adjustment tab at waist
- Four internal pockets
- Slit pocket at chest
- Two slit pockets on front
- Wind collar tab
- Detachable thermal liner
- Wind catcher behind cuff zipper
- Wind catcher behind front zipper
- Prepared for SEESOFT™ CE-level 2 Insert Back Protector
- Safety seams
- SEESMART™ CE-level 1 Shoulder Protectors
- SEESMART™ CE-level 1 Elbow Protectors
The stitching in motorcycle garments contributes greatly to the abrasion resistance of the total gear. This is why REV’IT! uses safety seams on garment areas at increased risk of impact. Safety seams have a visible as well as an invisible seam. This construction keeps the material of the outer shell together, even when the visible seam is thorn.Outer shell material:
- This garment is certified according to the EN 17092 Standard, published in 2020 and has achieved AA rating.
Please Note: We can ship REV’IT! products to US, US territory or APO/FPO addresses only (per manufacturer’s restrictions).
This jacket is offered in European sizes. The normal formula to convert a European size to a US size is to subtract 10 from the European size to get the approx US chest size. If you’re familiar with a sportier REV’IT! leather jacket, this one will fit a little more roomy in the chest and the drop to the waist is not quite as aggressive. Based on measurements, most people will choose a European size that they normally choose for a good fit, or a size up from what they normally wear for a roomy fit. I’d recommend choosing a size based upon your chest and belly measurements and the instructions below.
We’ve put together a chart to help you choose the best size for you. Measure both your chest and belly and choose a size that will be big enough for both. The jackets are cut more casually and so the taper from chest to waist isn’t nearly as aggressive as a sport/race jacket, so the belly size won’t be an issue for most, but I put my estimate of max belly so you can make sure. Adjusters on each side of torso at the waist line allows you to snug down the belly area by about 4” total.
Our Two Cents
The Restless jacket is a new vintage styled leather jacket from REV’IT! for Spring 2022.
REV’IT! has chosen a full cowhide leather for the Restless jacket and it has a nice supple vintage feel to it. The leather has a vintage look and is meant to break in and show some use just like the classic leathers of yesterday, sometimes this is referred to as distressed leather. The jacket is soft and flexible and should be an easy fit.
There are two handwarmer pockets on the front, and one chest pocket for storing small items. On the inside, there is a removable thermal liner that zips in and has TWO snaps at the cuffs. I emphasize the snaps because one is obvious and the second is up the sleeve a bit near where the cuff zipper ends. It would be really easy to think you have it loose after unsnapping the first and then tearing the second one so beware!
The waist has a snap adjustment that can taper fit by about 2-4 inches. The cuffs also have a snap closure and a short zipper for easy entry and exit.
The jacket comes with Seesmart CE level 1 armor in the elbows and shoulders. This is the best armor REV’IT! offers, it is thin and flexible while still providing level 1 protection. The jacket is prepared for the Seesoft back protector which we have linked below in the related products.
This jacket makes a great vintage fashion statement and it also provides protection when you’re on the road. The best of classic style and modern armor meet in this Restless jacket. :: Mike, 04-14-2022
