Our Two Cents

Joe Rocket has made several enhancements to their already popular Phoenix 3.0 mesh pants which include the new gray colorway, cooler than black for summertime riding. The elastic strap configuration at the back of the waist allows for a more comfortable fit and eliminates bunching. Also, the fit of the waist is highly adjustable, at both the front and back, something we’ve not seen before. Probably the most welcome new enhancement is the melt resistant material on the lower leg area. The pants have solid textile fabric in the areas that would be most vulnerable in a crash, the knees, the sides of the legs and the seat, but there are also large panels of mesh fabric to keep you cool on hot summer rides. The mesh has a somewhat loose weave which is rather see-through; probably not a good idea to go commando in these. Zippered pockets on the thighs make for secure storage of your wallet, keys, etc, and the full length side zippers make these easy to get on and off over your street clothes and boots. Like earlier versions, there is CE armor in the knees and a foam hip pad; the hip pad covers a larger area than previous pads. Overall, a great article of motorcycle gear that has gotten better with each version. We’ve taken a lot of pictures of the features on these pants; be sure to take the “View Larger Images” link above. Our custom pictures have a slightly pink tint to them, we were having trouble getting the lighting just right, but the pants are definitely a gray. The heat resistant fabric at the bottom insides of the legs is a slightly different shade than the rest of the pants.

These pants flow a ton of air. I picked grey to help reduce the heat during the summer. The quality of these pants is good and adjustment at the waist is adequate, but somewhat conservative. (Read more...)

These pants seem very well made and they flow a lot of air when it is hot out. The mesh material has large holes, so you'll need to wear some kind of pants or shorts under these at a minimum because the material is see-through. There is a lot of a... (Read more...)
