Sizing Information

We checked the sizing of this style with our Fit Check mannequins Huey and Dewey. They are wearing size Medium and XL jackets respectively. These are their “usual” sizes and they fit just fine. We also checked the chest and belly of the other sizes and find them to fit OK too. Therefore, we recommend you choose the size you normally wear in men’s clothing. If you find yourself between sizes, I’d encourage you to order the larger.

Another way to refine your size selection is to measure your chest and belly and then use our size chart (below) which lists max chest and max belly sizes for each jacket size. The measurements in the chart are a combination of the manufacturer’s size chart and also the measurements we take on the product samples. After you measure, you can choose a jacket size using the chart. You’ll want to choose a size that will accommodate both your chest and belly. The max belly runs about 2” less than the chest. The jackets have side waist adjusters to help you customize the fit if your waist is smaller than what the chart indicates.

Size Max Chest Max Belly
Small 40 38
Medium 42 40
Large 44 42
XL 46 44
XXL 50 48
XXXL 54 52
XXXXL 58 56

Note: This chart mirrors Fly’s official size chart for sizes XL and above, but shows larger sizes than Fly’s chart for smaller sizes. Their chart for the smaller sizes is not accurate.

Our Two Cents

The Fly Racing Launch jacket is a waist length waterproof jacket.

The Launch uses Hydraguard™ weatherproof technology for a windproof, waterproof, and breathable outer shell. There are two chest vents and two rear exhaust vents that vent directly to the body so they should flow plenty of air when open. The chest vents double as pockets if you need to store something small and don’t want to use the two handwarmer pockets for storage.

At the waist of the jacket, there are two large hook and loop adjusters that should give you about six inches that you can take the waist in. The cuffs and collar also feature hook and loop adjusters so you can get a good seal. Another hook and loop bicep adjuster helps to keep the jacket tight on the arm so it doesn’t flap around in the wind. The jacket has a drop tail to give you some additional coverage and there is a snap belt loop connector so you can attach it to your riding pants for even more secure coverage.

The jacket comes with CE level 1 armor in the shoulders and elbows and the foam back pad can be upgraded to the Fly Barricade CE armor (see related products). There is a removable zippered thermal vest liner included so the jacket will be comfortable in a wide range of temperatures. Small reflective strips on the chest and back will help you stay visible to other motorists.

This jacket should work for most riders from warm to cool, wet or dry weather. With the thermal vest removed and the vents open it should keep you relatively cool on a warm day, but it will not flow as openly as a full mesh so I wouldn’t suggest it for extremely hot weather. :: Mike, 1-28-2022
