Our Two Cents

The word “workhorse” comes to mind when looking over the Pivot Series 3 jacket. It’s a simple style, but it has a lot of features for comfort and convenience that the “everyday” rider will enjoy. A lot of energy went into the design of the climate control features. The outer shell is a typical textile design and the jacket is made rainproof by using a waterproof/breathable mid-liner. This mid-liner is located between the jacket’s outer shell and the inside nylon liner, so you can’t really see it, but it provides about as effective waterproofing as can be built into a motorcycle jacket because there are no openings (zippers, snaps, etc) that pass through the liner. The only downside to the mid-liner is that air cannot pass through the various vents in the jacket’s shell all the way through to your skin, so the jacket’s zippered venting won’t be quite as effective as jackets without a mid-liner. But speaking of venting, the jacket does have a lot of it. There are zippers on the shoulders, in the biceps and in the chest area and also rear exhaust vents. Four of the six front vents are the kind that can be positioned so that they “scoop” air and and they do a really nice job. For cold weather comfort, the jacket comes with a removable full sleeve thermal liner which looks like it would do a very good job at keeping you warm. For protection, the jacket includes the usual selection of pockets… two front hand warmer pockets, an internal document pocket and inside patch pockets. You also get a very nice rear fanny pocket. Take the “View Larger Pictures” link above to see some good close-up pictures of all these features.
