This sizing chart is based on information provided to us by Bell Helmets and is subject to change without notice, although we will do our very best to keep it up to date. We recommend that you measure your head by wrapping a cloth tape measure around your head about 1 inch or 2.5 cm above your eyebrows, which should be the largest portion of your head. Choose the helmet that is closest to your measured head size. If you fall between two sizes, choose the smaller of the two. You want a helmet to fit snug without being uncomfortable.

Our Two Cents

The Bell MX-9 Adventure helmet is the new Dual Sport helmet from the Bell helmet line. It is designed for use in both on and off road applications. If you are an adventure rider and looking to get a new lid I would really consider going with the MX-9 Adventure. Bell put a lot of thought into the design of the helmet. At first glance the helmet looks like your standard off road/MX helmet. After a couple of turns on the screws, you can pull off the peak visor and hit the highway. You could use the helmet on the road with the visor still on the helmet but at higher speeds you will feel it catching a lot of wind. The helmet has lots of venting so you get plenty of air flow. What I really like is Bell put in a removable filter on the inside of the vent that you can pull out and clean after a day of trail riding. The helmet also features two top vents, two side exhaust, and two rear exhaust vents. The only drawback to the venting is there is no way to close the top vents. That really makes this a mild to hot weather helmet and not that great for cold weather riding. The padding on the inside is very soft and feels a lot like suede. After wearing the helmet around for about 20 minutes I think that the fit of the helmet is just slightly on the small side. It was not so small that I had to go up in size for the correct fit, but if you find that you are between sizes I would suggest going up in size. The shell is constructed from a lightweight poly composite and weighs in right at 3lbs 6 oz. The shell shape is an intermediate oval shape which is pretty consistent with a lot of other major brands here in the US. – Aaron 04/07/2015
