We find that gloves from REV’IT! are generally very consistent in fit from one model to the next, and we find they run a bit on the snug side as compared to most US based brands. The fit is very similar to Alpinestars which also fit more snugly than other brands of gloves. The tendency to run small is not so noticeable that we’d advise you to buy one size larger, but if you are sometimes in between sizes, your best shot would be to choose larger. Hopefully you’ve had some experience with buying gloves and can choose based upon the fit of a previous pair. If you have no previous experience with glove sizing, go here for help.
Our Two Cents
The Dirt 2 glove by REV’IT! isn’t a dirt bike glove! This is a street or dual sport glove that is made for mild to warm weather. Since this is a short cuff glove and is very flexible and comfortable, I think of it as a HEAVY DUTY mesh/leather glove. We sell lots of gloves in this general category and oftentimes I warn customers about gloves that are very light duty and will only provide limited protection. But this Dirt 2 offers the flexibility and comfort of a mesh/leather design, but in a package that has a lot more protection than most… and for the price, you’d expect that, right? The knuckle area is covered by a very robust molded protector, the backs of the fingers have molded pieces as well. Over the outside wrist bone there is soft integral padding and in the heel of the hand, there is a honeycomb rubber protection piece for shock absorption should you impact the ground. High wear and other areas that might impact the ground are beefed up with double leather such as the side of the pinkie and the palm (and also around that molded protection in the heel of the hand). Parts of the back of the hand are mesh which allows air to go right through, so summer is when this glove will shine. This glove is VERY comfortable from the start. The inside is lined with a soft, satin-like material that will cut friction and also keep your hands away from black leather dye. And last but not least, this glove is touchscreen compatible by way of little metallic fabric inserts on the tip of each index finger and thumb. You can do all the functions including pinch. Nice. I’ve got some good close-in photos for you that show these features and also a night shot that shows the gloves’ reflectivity. This glove definitely falls into the “you get what you pay for” category, and there are precious few summer gloves that give this sort of protection and comfort. :: Paul, 02-28-14
