Our Two Cents

There are few worse things in motorcycling than freezing cold hands. Not only is it uncomfortable, it can also be quite dangerous. When hands start to go numb your ability to control the motorcycle is significantly diminished. The Synergy Leather Gloves are powered by your bike’s 12v system with a power lead that connects directly to your bike’s battery. All Synergy apparel comes with the power lead and the heat controller, so there’s nothing else left to buy. Installation is very easy (so long as it’s easy to get to your bike’s battery), and they are very easy to use. There are 3 temperature settings, which cycle through from high to low by pressing the green button. Press the red button to shut them off. I found that these heat up very quickly, and leave my hands feeling nice and toasty even on the coldest of mornings. You can use them alone or in conjunction with the Synergy jacket liner or vest liner. The Synergy gloves are constructed from a soft leather, which does a good job blocking out the wind. There is also a RainGuard® waterproof liner and 40gram Thinsulate™ insulation. Even without the heat on, these gloves are fairly warm. What is really nice about them though is the bulk, or lack thereof. Since the heating elements used in these gloves are made from thin carbon fiber, they are hardly noticeable and don’t add much size to the gloves at all. The fingers may feel slightly thick, but not really any more than a heavily insulated thick winter glove. There are stretch panels at the back of the hand and the base of the fingers, and the fingers are pre-curved for riding comfort. A secure Velcro wrist strap is used to keep the gloves on your hands, and the gauntlet uses a Velcro closure as well. Behind the gauntlet there is an additional wind and rain barrier with a draw cord to keep your hands protected from the elements. If you do encounter rain, you’ll appreciate having a visor wiper built in to the left thumb. The back of the hand, side of the gauntlet, and base of the palm all have built in padding for protection. We have taken quite a few pictures of these gloves in our studio, so be sure to click the “View Larger Images” link above to take a closer look.
