Sizing Information

We checked the fit of this jacket and found it to run true to the sizing chart. For the fit test, Laverne and Shirley are standard size 6 and 12 respectively and they are wearing sizes XS and Large. As you can see the fit is slightly roomy but comfortable. Since they are at the bottom of the size range for the jackets they are wearing, a bit of room makes sense. For a more snug fit, you can choose the smaller of the two size choices for each dress size (at least for Smalls and above). Take the “View Larger Images” link above to see how our test subjects look in their jackets. Here is the Tour Master chart provided for this product:

Alpha Size Dress Size Chest Size Sleeve Length
XS 6-8 33” 23”
Small 8-10 35” 23.5”
Medium 10-12 37” 24”
Large 12-14 39” 24.5”
XL 14-16 41” 25”

Our Two Cents

The Flex Series 3 jacket from Tour Master is their third revision of this style. The whole idea of the Flex 3 is to have flexibility for all sorts of temperatures and riding conditions. The easiest way to think of this jacket is to picture a full featured full mesh jacket with an add-on solid textile “cover”. The underlying mesh jacket includes the protective features of CE approved armor in the shoulders and elbows and a very nice back protector. The mesh jacket can be worn without the textile outer shell when the weather is really hot. It is a loose weave fabric that allows the wind to blow right through and therefore can be used comfortably in the heat of summer. When things cool off, you can re-install the outer shell (zippers around the collar, sleeve ends, and waist line, etc). The solid textile shell blocks the wind for cooler weather use. Even with the textile shell, there is some control because you have zippered vents in the shoulder/sleeve area and on the back of the jacket. And then when things really cool off you can use the removable thermal liner. The thermal liner can be used even with the jacket in the mesh mode for further adjustability (like a cool morning in summer or a mountain pass). The outer textile shell is advertised as “water resistant” which is probably a fair statement, but by no means is the whole rig waterproof. There are just too many zippers and such for “waterproof” to happen. As mentioned above in the Sizing Info section, the jacket has a “slightly roomy” cut which will appeal to street riders and commuters of all sorts and will be very comfortable for most. The jackets have a number of storage options and other fit/convenience features such as sleeve and waist adjustment straps (as you would expect). Note: We took a ton of photos of the features of this jacket when we photographed the men’s Flex 3, so please have a look at those since the women’s version has the same exact feature list.
