Our Two Cents

What a deal! With the dollar’s devaluation, boots from Europe are going up all the time, so this is a great deal on an Italian-made boot. My comments from the ‘08 season: The Typhoon’s overall design and style is for street riding, commuting and touring. The styling and construction remind me a bit of an off-road boot, so those involved in “adventure riding” will like this boot very much. These boots are made for all weather conditions too (except for perhaps very hot weather) with a Gore-Tex lining which is breathable and waterproof. Gore-Tex is used as the waterproofing material in everything from gloves to ski parkas. It is designed to keep water out while allowing moisture to escape. The boots are tall and sturdy with a four part Velcro closure system and an elastic stretch panel on the calf that gives you a secure “custom fit.” This boot can also accommodate a large calf (about 19”... wow!). They can be worn with pant legs over them or tucked in. The boots are made of thick leather, so they will need a bit of breaking in before you feel natural walking in them. In addition to the heavy leather construction, there is built in armor in the shin, heel, toe and the inside ankle area. These armor pieces are rigid pieces of armor that add protection in case of impact. There is also a reflective insert on the back of the boot for added visibility at night. Take the “View Larger Pictures” link above to see some closeups of the boot.

Note about the sole design: Mid-way through this boot’s life the sole design of the boot was changed from a smooth/street sole to a lug sole. We have some of each in this closeout boot. Please take the “View Larger Pictures” link above to see the difference and use the drop down menu above to see what sizes remain in each size/sole design.
