Sizing Information

We tried this style on Huey and Dewey and we found the jackets to fit very nicely; Huey is in a Medium and Dewey is in the XL which are their “normal sizes”. We need to caution you about the size chart provided by Icon though because it lists smaller-than-standard chest sizes for each men’s alpha size. For example, an XL jacket in men’s clothing will usually accommodate a 46 chest and about a 42” max belly, but going strictly by this chart, for a 46 chest you’d choose an XXL which would be too big. We think the alpha sizes on the jackets represent the true size of the jackets and the chest size for each jacket in the chart is understated by about 2”. Our advice then: just choose a jacket based upon the size you normally wear in men’s clothing and give less concern to Icon’s estimated chest size. This jacket is only slightly tapered in the torso, so waist/belly issues won’t be much of an issue.

Here is the size chart provided by Icon for this jacket:

Size Sleeve Chest
Small 31 36-38
Medium 32 38-40
Large 33 40-42
XL 34 42-44
XXL 35 46-48
XXXL 36 48-50
XXXXL 37 52-54

Our Two Cents

The Citadel will be a great street jacket for mild to hot weather use. The shell is about half solid textile and about half flow thru mesh material, so this style will flow a LOT of air. And the overall weight of the jacket is fairly light so it won’t feel too “heavy” for summer use. You will be able to use the removable thermal vest to add just a touch of insulation if the temps are a bit less. I’d say, overall this is about a two season style… great for the heat of summer, part of the spring and part of the fall. And part of feeling “light” comes from the use of the D30 armor. This armor is CE rated but is not as thick and bulky as most other jacket armor. I really like it. Storage is typical in this jacket.. there are a couple hand warmer pockets on the front as you would expect and inside without the liner there is one zip wallet pocket and a patch pocket. If you are wearing the liner, you get a bit better assortment of pockets (which is strange… typically the pocket arrangement in an insulated liner will mirror that of the jacket liner). Nighttime reflectives are really good. We took a couple “night shots” you can see if you take the “View Larger Images” link above. Overall a nice jacket… just pay attention to our sizing advice and you’ll find this to be a very easy-to-wear jacket. :: Paul, 09-06-13
