Our Two Cents

The T-Gasoline jacket from Alpinestars has a fairly simple design and should work well for cold to mild temperatures. The main reason I would not recommend this jacket for warmer weather is there is no venting whatsoever. Combine that with a non-removable waterproof liner and you’ll end up sweating like mad in the heat. There is, however, a very nice insulated liner that is included with the jacket, which should do a great job keeping you warm in the cold. The collar of the jacket extends a good ways up the neck, another nice feature for cold weather. While this jacket has the feel of Alpinestars quality, the T-Gasoline seems fairly lightweight, with a basic 600 denier fabric shell and no reinforced shoulders or elbows. Storage is limited to two zippered front pockets and two internal pockets (in the liner). That means that with the liner out, you’ll be limited to just the exterior pockets. One very welcome feature for any wet weather jacket is the generous use of reflective material. The T-Gasoline will provide ample night-time visibility without leaving you looking like a power ranger during the day (check out our night-time simulated photos in the gallery). For protection, the T-Gasoline includes CE approved armor for the shoulders and elbows, as well as PE padding in the chest and back. The chest and back pads are upgradable to Alpinestars Bionic Armor (see below), which is a very nice option. We have taken several pictures of the T-Gasoline in our studio, so be sure to click the “View Larger Images” link above to take a look.
