Our Two Cents

At last – the long awaited Sidi Adventure Rain is finally here! I must say, right off the bat, it looks like these boots live up to the hype. It is obvious that the Sidi designers took a long hard look at the adventure touring crowd and what they would want in a boot. The Adventure Rain combines the all day comfort of a touring boot with the ruggedness of an off road boot, resulting in the best all around boot you can get for your feet (for the ADV crowd). The Adventure Rains securely stay on your feet with two adjustable cam buckle straps, along with an upper Velcro closure. The upper portion of these boots have a fairly wide range of adjustment, and should accommodate riders with all but the biggest of calves. The extra room available also means you can tuck in your pants if you so choose. The molded heel and ankle protection in these boots feels very good. It’s not what you’d find in a MotoX boot, but it is much more substantial than what you would find in most touring boots. The soft lugged sole should provide plenty of off road grip. Walking in these boots is a bit stiff (mainly the leather upper), but they should break in nicely. Shin protection seems quite good, as there is a large molded piece that covers that area. The inner part of the boot is constructed of a heat resistant material – great for those who have pipes running down by their legs. Now let’s talk about water… Sidi does not claim that these are water proof, only water resistant. There is a membrane that is water resistant, although it leaves the top 3 inches of the boot unprotected. Sufficient for going through some rain I’m sure, but water crossings may leave your feet wet (haven’t had a chance to test this feature yet!). Anyhow, water proofing aside, these seem like very good boots for touring and off road adventures. Top it off with some tough, rugged looks, and I would say they are worth every penny.
