Sizing Information

We find that TCX boots are generally an easy fit and they are consistent from one model to the next. And we have very good luck using their size chart to convert from US sizes to their Euro size. Go here to view the TCX Sizing Conversion Chart page for help in choosing a size. Since this is a lace boot it can be customized for fit easily (as compared to side zip boots).

We estimate the width to be about “D” or medium. These are slightly wider than Sidi boots and fit much like Alpinestars.

Our Two Cents

The X-Garage boots by TCX are aimed at riders who are looking for something “retro” to ride on the bike. The leather used in these boots is a distressed brown… the kind that doesn’t polish but feels more like an oiled boot, so in just a few wearings, these will show marks and creases and really have the “vintage” look.

As for protection features, this boot doesn’t have much to offer. The heel is stiffened (like any other boot) but the toe does not have any stiffening. The closure is simple laces. I’m told the factory was going for the retro look and feel and didn’t want to load this one up with armor, etc.

One motorcycle specific aspect of the boot is the lining, which I like. It is a step above what you’d find in most work boots… it’s the waffle-type synthetic material that is soft and comfy and will resist odors and will wick sweat. I took a shot of that material for you and you’ll immediately recognize it. Also, I like that the neck of the boot has the rolled padding which will be comfortable and be easy to break in. :: Paul, 01-27-15

Note about ankle armor: If you take a look at our photo gallery, there is a discrepancy between the factory images and the boot we got for photos with regard to the ankle protection. As you can see the factory photo shows circular armor pieces built into the boot on either side of the ankle, but as you will see, the boot we used for photos didn’t have that armor. After clarifying with TCX, I found that the picture of the boot with ankle armor was a pre-production sample, and the boots being sold do not have armor in the ankles.
