Sizing Information

The waist sizes on these pants are accurate as stated. And below you’ll find the inseam measurements. The pants can be worn over boots or tucked into boots (see discussion below). The inseam lengths listed below are pretty average and should work for most people for wearing the pants either over boots/shoes or tucked. Taller riders who wish to wear the boots tucked in could also make these work (since they need only to reach near the ankle bone for tucked-in use).

Our Two Cents

These mesh pants are a great complement to any of the FirstGear hot weather jackets and would be great with any other style of mesh jacket as well. They are styled much like other sport pants, but the majority of the pant is breathable/flow thru mesh material. The pants are lined with a nylon mesh liner, which lets the air through but makes it where you can’t see through them. The pants have some small, built-in foam pieces on the hips (which you can see in the close-up pictures) along with removable hip armor pieces. The knees have EVA foam pieces as well. These standard armor pieces are lightweight and flexible. Choose the same size mesh pants you would for jeans or slacks. Inseam lengths are cut for the “average” height. Like other sport type pants, these are tapered at the ankle and close with a zipper. The zipper has a gusset so that when the zipper is open, the pant legs are larger and can be worn over boots (much like jeans). Take the “View Larger Pictures” link above to see this pant’s features up close.

These pants are constructed well and are very functional. They aren't as cool as I expected, but for the level of protection they provide they are a good compromise. Maybe just a bit warmer than plain jeans, but cooler than Kevlar jeans in my op... (Read more...)

The FirstGear Mesh-Tex 2.0 pants are great summer pants. Frankly, I am not sure how protective they could be in case of a crash, but surely they will do better than a pair of shorts. However, the amount of air that flow through it, feels like wear... (Read more...)
