Our Two Cents

The Air Tour Mesh jacket is for those that need a hot weather jacket, but one that has lots of storage and convenience features for touring or commuting. The 3/4 style in a solid textile is preferred by many because it provides more coverage from the elements (mostly the cold). But of course in a mesh jacket the coverage issue is minimal. It just so happens though that the longer style also makes for the opportunity to add a bunch of pockets. This jacket has six external pockets on the front and a large rear fanny pocket. There is also an internal zippered wallet pocket and a couple patch style pockets in the liner. Speaking of the liner, this liner has lots of possible usefulness. You can use the liner to break the wind on cool mornings or over mountain passes. Using the liner will extend the jacket’s effective usable temperature range. The liner is also waterproof and would serve to keep you dry in a sudden shower (but the sleeve ends and neck openings of an inside liner like this will prevent it from being completely waterproof in serious rain). And finally, this liner can be worn separately from the jacket as a nice casual windbreaker style . Being able to use the liner separately will help you with space management when touring (no need for a separate casual jacket). The armor in the jacket is very good. The shoulders and elbows have a very sturdy plastic-over-foam, GP style armor. It’s comfortable and also feels very substantial. The jacket has the usual fitment features such as the Velcro adjustable waist band and the snap adjusters on both arms. I am very pleased with my jacket. Had it for a ride in 90degree weather and found it very comfortable. I liked it so much that my wife ordered one just like it the next day. (Read more...)
