Sizing Information

We measured a sampling of these jeans of different waist sizes and lengths and find they are much like other jeans you’d buy these days. They are just a bit “vanity” sized in the waist. Across the size run, the actual measured waist band is just about 2” larger than the stated size, which is typical vanity sizing. So my primary advice would be to buy the waist size you normally wear in jeans; you’ll likely find a fit. The jeans include armor in the hips and knees. The armor units are quite thin and flexible so they don’t make a difference in the size choice of jeans..

If you aren’t sure whether your jeans are vanity sized like I’m describing, then use a tape and measure around your waist where your normal jeans ride or measure the waist band of your favorite pair of jeans to verify. You’ll likely find that your waist and also the waist band of your favorite jeans measures out a couple inches bigger than the jean’s stated size. If so, you will be on track following my advice.

The inseam lengths measured out to be average. In the smaller jeans, the inseam of about 32”, the mid-sized jeans were about 33” and the larger jeans topped out at about 34” which is pretty standard. The pant legs are a simple design and could be hemmed. The knee armor position is highly adjustable, so even if you hem them or roll them up, you should be able to adjust the armor position to work.

Our Two Cents

The Spidi J&Dyneema jeans are stylish and protective jeans you’ll find very easy to wear. They look great and fit very well. Armor is included so there is nothing to add.

The fabric used in these jeans is reinforced denim. Dyneema is woven into the denim to increase the jean’s abrasion resistance. There are two typical ways that motorcycle jeans are made. Either the jeans have an extra layer of abrasion resistant material added to the backside of the denim (usually in the seat and knees) OR the denim itself is reinforced like it is in these jeans. The more ” premium” jeans offered by various brands are like these and the less expensive jeans are generally fitted with the extra layer. The reinforced jeans will typically give a more “tailored” fit and look more like regular jeans because they don’t show extra lines of stitching where the extra layer is fitted in, and they don’t have the extra thickness.

The fabric here is definitely a premium product. It has a very nice feel to and the jeans aren’t wrinkled looking, even out of the packaging. The dark color looks sharp and is a bit more dressy IMHO than faded or distressed jeans. The overall fit is that of a typical slim fit jean which is most people’s style choice these days. The pant leg end measures 7” across (14” around) at the cuff end. If you have thicker/taller boots you may want to measure the jeans you are able to wear with them now to make sure these jeans would fit over them.

The armor included with the jeans is the very thin and flexible type which works very well in jeans. It doesn’t show from the outside, which is what most people who select jeans for the bike prefer. Many of the brands we sell use this type of armor. the hip armor is fitted into fabric pockets in the lining. The knee armor is also in a fabric pocket and the height of the armor is adjustable with Velcro. Note: When I tried on a new pair of jeans, the armor was installed at the highest point which put the armor way up on my thigh, so just be aware you’ll likely need to lower the armor in the knee pocket to make them work for you. Just turn them inside out to make the adjustment in position.

I really like these jeans… the fabric and the styling are great. And I like that the armor is included so you don’t have to add anything else to use them fully. :: Paul, 05-21-19
