Sizing Information

This product is sold in European sizes. Generally speaking, the US chest size in inches is equivalent to roughly 10 points less than the European jacket size. Example: a 56 Euro jacket is similar to a size 46/XL men’s US size. But since this jacket style runs a bit more snugly, we recommend buying one size larger, add about 12 points to your US chest size to get the right Euro size.

I’d suggest you measure yourself with a tape and get your chest size and belly size, then use the size chart to pick the smallest size jacket that will be big enough for both your chest and belly using the chart below. Approximate US alpha sizes are also listed in the chart so you can check if the jacket size you choose is the same alpha size as you normally wear in men’s clothing.

I’d call the overall cut of this jacket “sport casual”. It is meant to fit snug, but it doesn’t taper nearly as much as sport/race jackets. The difference between the max chest and max belly is about 2” or less. With sport/race jackets the “drop” from chest to waist will be more like 4” to 8” depending on the model. The overall fit if this style is much more forgiving and will fit a wider range of body types.

Sizing tips for upgrading armor: If you plan to add a back protector add 1” to your measured chest/belly size before using the size chart.

Euro Size Max Chest (inches) Max Belly (inches) Approx US Alpha Size

50 38 37 Small

Our Two Cents

The Spidi Vintage jacket is a good looking leather style for street riders. It offers a “retro” vibe and modern protection.

This a good looking jacket which will give you protection and a lot of style. The leather used is obviously expensive and high quality. It is very soft with a more “matte’ finish, and only a touch of shine to it.

Even though this jacket is more “casual” than many of Spidi’s sport leather jackets, it does have a very good armor setup. The shoulders and elbows have their Warrior Lite armor which is a soft rubber compound and very flexible. But it is the type that momentarily hardens upon impact. It is nice stuff. The jacket is fitted with a pocket and Velcro to mount one of the optional back protectors. I’ve listed the options below, and if you click through to any of those back protectors, there is a pretty good discussion of the similarities and differences between them to help you decide which one you want.

Spidi mentions the jacket having snaps to accommodate their options thermal liners and a waterproof liner. Also, their literature says this jacket is “50% waterproof”. I’d advise you to ignore both the waterproof claim and their suggestion to add a waterproof liner. This is a fine leather jacket and there is no way you want to plan on wearing it in the rain. You’d likely ruin it. As for the optional thermal liner… yes, they sell two optional liners that are made to be “destination” jackets too. I’ve listed those below. But note that the jacket come standard with a pretty nice removable vest-style liner already, so you may want to try the one that comes with the jacket first, and then upgrade if you want more insulation. This jacket doesn’t have vents, so I don’t think this jacket will be comfortable in hot weather, but would work fine for cold to mild weather.

Some of the details on this jacket are very nice. The zippers are shiny chrome units with fine teeth so they look sharp. The badging is pretty minimal too, so the jacket doesn’t look to “racy”. I really like the overall style. :: Paul, 10-28-19
