Sizing Information

This jacket is offered in European sizes. The normal formula to convert a European size to a US size is to subtract 10 from the European size to get the approx US chest size, and most REVIT sport jacket styles run about 1” smaller than that rule of thumb. But this style bucks that trend by running about 1/2 size (1” larger through the chest) than expected. Based on measurements, most people will choose a European size that is one size smaller than they normally choose for a snug fit or the same size they normally wear for a roomy fit. I’d recommend choosing a size based upon your chest and belly measurements and the instructions below.

We’ve put together a chart to help you choose the best size for you. Measure both your chest and belly and choose a size that will be big enough for both. The jackets are cut more casually and so the taper from chest to waist isn’t nearly as aggressive as a sport/race jacket, so the belly size won’t be an issue for most, but I put my estimate of max belly so you can make sure. Adjusters on each side of the torso at the waistline allow you to snug down the belly area by about 4” total.

Jacket Size Max Chest Max Belly/Waist
46 37 34
48 39 36
50 41 38
52 43 40
54 45 42
56 47 44
58 49 46
60 51 48

Our Two Cents

The REVIT Sherwood Air jacket is a new all-leather style for use in hot weather. Armor is included for the shoulders and elbows and back protection is available. This is a sharp, understated all-black jacket that any style rider could wear. It will look good on or off the bike.

Another new style this year is the Cordite jacket, which I really like. And this Sherwood Air is obviously the perforated version of that same jacket. It doesn’t have as much “retro” styling, but rather the style is more neutral. But the materials, the fit, armor set-up is the same, and both styles have very nice heavy, but soft leather construction.

The overall fit of the jacket is casual (see our sizing advice), and I think you’ll find yourself wearing this jacket both on and off the bike. The styling is pretty classic… not sport, not retro and not specifically cruiser either… it will work for all of the above. The leather finish is somewhere between a traditional shiny finish and a matte finish. The zippers are a dark “antique” finish so they blend with the black leather. The collar is the classic mandarin style.

Armor inserts are included for the shoulders and elbows as standard. It’s REVIT’s SeeSmart CE Level 1 armor which is their best armor line and CE level one being the lighter and thinner version which is appropriate for a street style jacket like this. The armor is a firm rubber compound and it is molded in a honeycomb pattern which works well in a jacket built for summer use. The back protector is optional. The jacket is equipped with a pocket to accept a Seesoft CE Level 2 Back Protector Insert type RV (RV refers to the shape). Take the link below to order. For sizes Small or Medium, choose size 4; for Large thru XXL, choose size 5 and for XXXL and larger choose size 6.

In the inside tail of the jacket is a couple of snap-close loops you can use to connect the jacket to your belt or loops on your jeans. There is also the traditional short rear zipper to connect to REVIT riding pants. Personally, I think most people will opt to wear this jacket with riding jeans or just their own jeans, so consider the consider connecting the jacket to your favorite jeans with REVIT’s Safeway belt (take the link below). It’s a neat alternative that is more secure.

Being fully perforated, I’d suggest this jacket for those that will see warm temps. But there is a vest-type thermal liner included which you can wear in cooler temps. This leather is nice stuff, so I wouldn’t recommend riding in the rain. :: Paul, 02-12-20

REVIT says: The Sherwood Air takes after the styling of the aptly named Sherwood jacket. The Air, however, has been designed for riding in warmer weather. The partially ventilated, highly abrasion-resistant leather outer shell allows air to flow through to the body, keeping things cooler. A detachable and sleeveless thermal liner is included in case a ride starts in chillier temperatures. On the safety front, CE-rated SEESMART™ protectors come standard at the shoulders and elbows. Furthermore, protection can easily be upgraded by installing our SEESOFT™ CE-level 2 back protector insert.
