Sizing Information

We tried a size Medium and an XL on our Fit Check mannequins Huey and Dewey. Those are sizes they usually wear in an “American” cut jacket. This jacket from REV’IT! fits well enough and it looks sharp, but there is very minimal room left. Many brands from Europe exhibit a fit like this, such as Alpinestars. If you look at REV’IT’s published size chart (below), you’ll see their estimate of chest size is at least a full size smaller than what you’d find in equivalent US designed clothing.

We think the fit is just about one half size smaller than what you would find in ordinary US men’s clothing. The amount the jackets are undersized is not as severe as REV’IT’s size chart would have you believe. For most people, this means you’ll be able to buy the size you normally wear if you want a snug, European style fit. If you want a looser American fit, or if you are between sizes, choose one size larger.

Below is the REV’IT!-published chest sizes for each jacket’s alpha size along with our estimate of max chest and max waist/belly. This particular style is a normally styled street jacket so there is an average amount of taper from chest to waist, which is about 4”. For your convenience we’ve listed the max belly for each jacket size, so if you have a bit of a belly, you can check and make sure the jacket size you choose will be big enough for you. If your waist is smaller, there are side adjustment straps to tailor the fit.

Our Two Cents

The REVIT Vapor 2 jacket offers excellent climate control features in a heavy duty touring package. The jacket includes CE Level 2 armor in the shoulders and elbows and a back pad can be added optionally. A full sleeve thermal liner is included and the jacket is fully waterproof.

The Vapor 2 is a more trim package than you normally find in this segment. The armor is level 2 SeeFlex armor which is molded to closely fit the body. And the overall cut of this jacket is trimmer than most. It’s cut longer than a sport cut jacket but not as long a traditional touring jacket. I think this jacket will work well for everyday street use or for adventure/touring.

This jacket has a built in waterproof liner throughout. Some of the venting is through the shell, but not through the waterproof liner, but the two largest vents on the lower torso vent through the shell AND the waterproof liner, which means the air flow will go right through to your body. Those two big vents have unique waterproof zippers. Those zippers remind me of super-heavy duty zip lock bag closers. They are rubberized and press together to lock and so they don’t have zipper teeth like you are used to seeing. They work surprisingly easy as compared to the rubber covered zippers you normally see. Two other zippers on the sleeve end and another two on the back are the more traditional type. Those are the four that vent air through the shell but not through the waterproof liner.

The jacket includes a removable full sleeve thermal liner which feels plush enough to give some pretty good warmth in colder weather. With the zipper arrangement and the thermal liner, I think this jacket would be suitable for all seasons except perhaps the hottest summer months. In cold weather or wet weather, I think this jacket will really shine. The collar closure is nice too. It overlaps the main zipper in front, and it’s adjustable, but it also has a hook/loop to hold it back and open for warm/dry weather use.

You can make a full riding suit by mating this jacket with REVIT pants (the link to the Vapor 2 pants is below). The short rear zipper or the all around zipper in the jacket will work with all the REVIT pants (with zippers). If you just want to wear the jacket with jeans, have a look at the Safeway belt listed below. You can use the belt with any jeans and connect up to the short rear zipper in back.

One other unique feature is the side adjusters on the jacket. They use REVIT’s slider system, so not only can you adjust the straps smaller and bigger, but you can move the whole thing up and down in the slider track. I think this would be useful to adjust for different height riders. There are also adjusters on the forearms. Like any good touring/street jacket, this one has reflectives built into the graphics design on the front and back and even the logos on the shoulders have reflective trim. :: Paul, 02-18-19

Add a Back Protector: This jacket is made with a pocket to accept a Seesoft CE Level 2 Back Protector Insert type RV (RV refers to the shape). For sizes Small or Medium, choose size 4; for Large thru XXL, choose size 5 and for XXXL and larger choose size 6.

REVIT says: A new feature is the membrane opening with an air outlet. In addition, we have replaced the ventilation zippers at the front with a lockout zipper, provided an improved construction and added more reflection.
