Sizing Information

We find Spidi gloves to fit similar to other European brands like Dainese, Alpinestars and REVIT, so if you know what size you wear in these brands, we advise you to choose the same size as you’ve worn before.

Just as an FYI, European brand gloves typically fit a bit more snug than US based brands such as Tour Master, FirstGear, Icon, etc. Even though this glove runs a bit more snug, it isn’t so much that we’d advise going up a size, but if you are at all between sizes, choose the larger.

If you have no idea what size you wear, please see the following Spidi glove size chart and hand measurement instructions to help you choose a size.

Our Two Cents

The Spidi Carbo 5 race glove is Spidi’s “better” race glove below the Carbo Track Evo and above the other gauntlet gloves for street such as the STS-R2. This glove has extra features for the amateur track rider.

One thing that strikes me in trying on this glove is the light weight as compared to other race gloves. The “warrior” armor on the side of the gauntlet is similar to the armor they use in some jackets. It is a light weight plastic arrangement that flexes easy. Spidi has added an extra layer in the palm of the glove called Keramide which they’ve used for years. I’m assuming it is their house brand of fabric similar to Kevlar (but I’m not certain about that).

The other track worthy features are a molded knuckle armor unit reinforced with carbon fiber; the use of abrasion resistant material in the heel area of the hand (which also appear on the cuff and the back side of the and just rear of the molded knuckle armor piece); a positive close Velcro strap at the wrist; a highly adjustable gauntlet to fit well over sport jackets and track suit sleeves.

In just handling this glove and feeling the overall “heft” of the materials I honestly don’t think I’d buy this glove as compared to other “track” gloves I’ve seen such as Alpinestars GP Pro R3 gloves we reviewed earlier this year or the REVIT Spitfire gloves. These other gloves in the same “mid level” price range for a race glove just look and feel more secure to me especially in the heel area of the hand and in the gauntlet. Although I will say the light weight with this Carbo 5 may feel like an advantage for riders who primarily do sport/street. They definitely are comfortable and easy to put on and take off. :: Paul, 09-23-19
