Sizing Information

We tried the size Medium in this jacket on Huey and we put an XL jacket on Dewey. These are the sizes they normally wear and both fit great. The jackets are roomy. My primary advice would be to wear the size you normally wear in men’s clothing. If you are between sizes I’d advise you to go down.

The chart provided by Speed and Strength shows chest sizes for each alpha size that are a bit larger than what you’d normally see for “standard” conversions from chest size to alpha size. Based on my observations (above), the chart seems just about right.

Size Small Medium Large XL 2XL 3XL
Chest 38-40 40-42 42-45 46-48 49-52 53-56
Sleeve 33 34 35 1/2 36 1/2 37 37 1/2

Our Two Cents

The Lunatic Fringe Mesh Jersey is basically a MX style jersey with armor included. There is a mesh liner inside the mesh outer frame which has pockets to hold the CE elbow and shoulder protectors and back pad. You’ll be buying this jacket probably because you like the look of a MX style jersey and you like the style and the simplicity.

Let me caution you about a couple things you need to be OK with in order to enjoy this jersey… 1) this jersey has no front zipper… it’s a pull-over. 2) the shell of this jersey is mostly nylon mesh material very much like an MX jersey or athletic shirt. The material is double thickness in key areas (shoulders and elbows) and the jersey is lined with the normal nylon mesh. There is also some extra padding in the shoulders and elbows along with the CE armor. With the double layers and extra padding, it’s more substantial than just a plain nylon jersey but it isn’t as substantial as a regular textile or mesh riding jacket. :: Paul, 04-23-14

Armor Dimensions: We’ve had questions as to the size of the armor that is included to determine whether it might fit in another jacket. Good question! Here you go:

Shoulders: 7 1/4” x 5 1/2”

Elbow: 8 1/2” x 5 1/2”

Back pad: 11” (at the widest point) x 18” tall
