Sizing Information

These pants are sold in waist and inseam lengths just like the jeans or pants you buy in any store. I measured a half dozen random sizes and they seem very close to the indicated size. If anything they are exactly on or a tad larger, so if you are between sizes, I’d advise you to choose the smaller.

Our Two Cents

The Cortech CPX pants have quickly become some of my favorite pants for quick rides and commuting. They are very comfortable, and the fact that they convert into shorts is a big bonus. There are zippers just above the knee that attach the lower legs, which makes them quick and easy convert to shorts and then back to pants again. For me, the lower legs are wide enough to get my boots or shoes through, which makes it that much easier (I wear a size 10, bigger feet might not fit). The waist of these pants is a bit on the roomy side, and the snap front isn’t quite as secure as a button, although I’ve never had it pop open on me. There are also belt loops at the waist which is handy. The CPX pants have your standard front and back pockets, which are nice and easy to get into, as well as cargo pockets on each side with a Velcro flap. The cargo pockets are great for quick runs to the store, etc. Another big plus on these pants is they don’t look like motorcycle pants, and could easily be worn out to dinner or to work. The fabric on these pants is very heavy, and the knees and seat are backed with extra abrasion resistance. While this makes for a nice, durable garment, it also makes these pretty hot in warm weather. There is a mesh lining on the inside of the pants which keeps them comfortable, but if it’s hot out expect to sweat. Keep in mind that these are not designed to be ridden in with the lower legs off, and you might also consider adding some knee armor for extra protection (and to bump you up to free shipping! There are some options at the bottom of this page). The fabric on these pants has also been treated to make them water resistant. I’ve ridden in some light showers and they have actually kept me dry, but any heavy rain for extended periods of time and I think the fabric will start to absorb moisture. Even after washing them, water still beads up and rolls off, which is nice. After a while you might have to treat them with Scotch Guard (or similar water repellant spray) to keep that water resistance. We have taken several photos of the CPX pants here in our studio, so be sure to click the “View Larger Images” link above to take a look.

Cortech CPX Cargo Pants - These have been a staple in my riding gear closet for years. Weight is heavy and warm, but will still handle warmer temps once moving. The fit is a bit baggy, but this works out for me as I tend to use them as overpants for commuting more than anything else. (Read more...)
