Items showing “3-5 Days” will ship as soon as we receive the item from the Dainese US distribution system which can range from one to four weeks. The Dainese US distributor relies on inventory in their US warehouse as well as inventory overseas. Unfortunately their system is not capable of giving us a more accurate real-time estimate . If you are concerned about the shipping time on any particular item showing “3-5 Day” availability, please reach us using the Customer Service link here on our website, otherwise, we’ll assume you are OK with the longer time frame for delivery.
These replacement armor pieces are sold in pairs. The pieces are identical so there is no “left and right”. The measurements below are made on the outside surface. To measure, we place a cloth tape from top to bottom and side to side following the curve shape. That measurement would correspond to the overall height and width of the cloth pocket you want to put them in. The thickness of the armor piece is approx 3/8” at the thickest.
Length: 13 1/4”
Width. 8” (not including the hook/loop tabs)
Our Two Cents
This armor can be used in pants that have pockets for the insertion of armor pieces. The construction of this armor is a soft foam backing approximately 3/8” with hard plastic plates sewn over the top. This is a very traditional construction type for armor. Some people like this style because the hard plastic will disperse a sharp impact over a wider area. The armor is light and comfortable. The plastic knee cover is separate from the shin piece so the armor flexes well.
The two tabs on each side of the knee are to install the armor in Dainese pants that have a pocket specifically set up for this type armor. The tabs will allow some adjustment of position within a pocket. A person could buy this armor for a pant with a pocket large enough for it and just not use the tabs or cut them off.
