I love these pants! I rarely wear them with the liner in, so the zip off panel really helps a lot with heat. In the winter I wear thermals under it and that helps because yes, wind does come through the zipper. One thing though, I have a 30" inseam and I have to snap them to their shortest position. I'm not sure what kind of amazon could wear them unsnapped (at max length) but the snapping system is a bit of a pain. I'm going to have them hemmed by a seamstress to get rid of that excess material folded up at the bottom. But still, they are very comfortable!
