The Alpinestars GP Pro R2 Gloves-2017 are very good CE2 rated, protective racing gauntlets; and at the MCG sale price, it is a compelling bargain (if you can find a size that fits). I'm a newer sportrider and wanted to upgrade/replace my current AGV Sport Echelon gloves (size small), which has stretched out and become a poor fit after a year's usage. The Alpinestars GP Pro R2 is indeed a noticeable upgrade. Note: Pauls "two-cents" comments are very accurate and insightful, I agree with his review. My input will be specially on fit, this will be the most important deciding factor. My hand measurement is for a men's size 8 which fits Held's sizing spot on. The closest will be a men's small on most other brands. But these Alpinestars GP Pro R2 runs a full size smaller and I ordered a men's medium. The fit was initially very tight, these gloves required a good break-in period to expand/conform to my hands. But after the break-in period, the gloves fit very well and provided a much superior fit and feel in a quality racing glove lacking from my previous AGV Sport Echelons (which were more like oven mitts by comparison). The overall features, materials and build quality of the Alpinestars looks good, although some features might be more gimmicky/superfluous and not very functional i.e. the "cooling" holes/ducts across the knuckles and back of the hands are really cosmetic only. Alpinestars is unfortunately guilty of over designing their gloves and not all of the claimed "features" are of real value. Frankly, we need to sort through the marketing hype and conclude what we personally value and buy accordingly. I'm very happy with this purchase and would recommend these gloves at the great sale price, with good features/good protection. But the fit might be challenging.
