I've been wearing the same pair of First Gear HT overpants for many years (10+). They are kinda bulky, but very useful to wear over work clothes. Sitting on the motorcycle they never felt bulky though. I also would wear them as regular riding pants occasionally. They are still fairly waterproof. They look well worn. Their best features are that they slip right on and are soft on bare skin inside. I love 'em. I bought a pair of the FirstGear TPG Escape Pants after seeing them on a friend. Figuring that I got my money's worth from the tired old pair, I jumped on these TPG's. What I like: They look great. Lots of pockets (especially right thigh one, but it's kind of smallish). Waterproof, nice texture. Fit is nice. They have quality cinching bottoms. And of course, Motorcyclegear.com's fantastic price. What I don't like: They really can't be worn without something underneath. The material inside is rough, ie, velcro patches and fabric. They also don't slide on easy like my previous version. The knee armor catches on your feet as you put them on, and the cinch bottom also restricts flow of putting on (but the cinch part is worth it). I wore flannel pants underneath yesterday and they caught on the velcro. So these pants will be more annoying to put on than my older pair. Also, the d3o armor is awesome stuff, but I figure it will move around in a crash...what good does the armor do if it slides next to your knee in a crash, right? The older pair had a larger and immovable piece of armor in the knees. Bottom line: These pants look great, fit well and will be nice for daily use, especially in cool and wet weather. But hopefully they break in to the point where they are more comfortable to wear as regular riding pants.
