I originally ordered the Shoei Light Smoke. I came from an HJC "smoke" shield on my other helmet and was faced with two choices, light or dark for Shoei. Well, the light is way too light imo. Side by side I saw the light and dark and the dark is just a hair bit darker. IMO go with the dark if you want to keep the sun out of your eyes. It will even by fine at night. I also have the 31mm cheek pads in the XL helmet. The 35mm were too tight, but I do have rather large cheeks.
