Alpinestars SP-8 v2 Gloves - 2017 (SOLD OUT)

Like most Alpinestars gloves, these gloves ran a bit smaller than most glove brands we carry. They are not a lot small and most people can choose the size they normally wear in gloves (especially if a snug fit is preferred). If you are sometimes between sizes, then choose the larger of the two. Hopefully you’ve had some experience with buying gloves and can choose based upon the fit of a previous pair. The Alpinestars SP-8 v2 glove is an upgrade of the version recently discontinued from 2013. The SP-8 is a long running model and it is offered for those that want a nice glove for sport/street or amateur racing, but need to stay under a hundred bucks. Street/sport riders of any kind will enjoy this glove. It is comfortable and sharp looking. I compared this v2 version to the previous version and the only notable change I can see is the addition of a reflective strip in the knuckle guard. I think it is amazing that Alpinestars can still offer this model for the same price five years later.

Other features… the fingers are box sewn (which means the seams are to the outside) which makes them easy to break in almost immediately. For protection, there is a molded knuckle protector and there is foam padding over the gauntlet, just behind the knuckle protector and on the backs of the fingers. The heel of the hand has an extra layer of synthetic suede and padding too. The pinky finger and ring fingers are linked by a strip of leather as a safety feature. The pinky is the most vulnerable in a crash and by linking the two fingers of the gloves, the ring finger can provide some bracing for the smaller finger. There is a single Velcro closure around the gauntlet of these gloves which makes them quick and easy to pull on and take off (but less secure than gloves that have a wrist strap as well).
