This balaclava is a bit snug on me and I generally wear an XL-XXL helmet size, so the size should be good for most.

For 2016, FirstGear has re-worked its entire line of Basegear underwear. The new line is all called 37.5 Basegear. What the heck is that you ask? The Basegear line is designed to make you more comfortable when riding by controlling the “micro climate” that exists under your clothing next to the skin. The material wicks moisture and controls humidity, and FirstGear says that humans are most comfortable with a relative humidity close to the skin of 37.5%. So there you go…. the origin of the name. The materials used are a mix of stretch fabric, a “waffle weave” fabric and thin neoprene-feeling materials (that face forward for wind block). The overall look is sharp and this gear has a high quality look and feel.
This short balaclava incorporates a skull cap, face mask and neck gaiter. In case you are wondering what is the difference between this “short” and the “long” balaclava, look CLOSELY at both pictures and you’ll see the short one doesn’t have two small pieces of fabric that would lay on your shoulders. Otherwise they are identical in length and construction on the front and back. You should be able to use this under your helmet as the fabric over the head is pretty thin. :: Paul, 11-04-15
