Sizing Information

We find TCX boots to be very consistent in fit from one model to the next. We checked this boot and it too is consistent with other models. To choose a size, please click here to see the TCX size chart. The general width of TCX is “medium” or D to E. To compare to other brands you may have experience with, I’d say the overall fit is somewhere between a Sidi boot which is generally a bit more narrow and an Alpinestars boot which has a more generous width.

Our Two Cents

The Jupiter 4 GTX boots are the latest in a long line of Jupiter boots. The boots have been highly popular for several years now. This is a lightweight and comfortable street shoe with bulletproof Gore-Tex waterproofing material.

The pricing on these boots is a bit more than most other similar styles, but Gore-Tex will add about $50 to a boot as compared to another similar boot with a generic waterproof liner. Gore-Tex is well know for keeping water out, but allows moisture from your foot to escape. Gore-Tex material costs more and most believe it works better. Given the use of Gore-Tex, the price of this boot is very reasonable in my opinion.

This is a hiker style that has become very popular for street riders and touring riders. Of course, you give up some shin protection you’d otherwise find in a more traditional taller style, but many decide that the shorter boot is lighter, cooler to wear, and more comfortable when off the bike. The shorter style also eliminates the issue of whether they’ll fit under/over pants. The lacing system on this boot is easy to use and EXTREMELY sturdy. The laces are definitely more than just “normal” laces you find in sneakers. They slide easily in the eyelets making this style easy to put on and take off. The sole is a firmer rubber compound like you’ll find in sports boots. They are also low profile and should work well with sportbike shifters. The sides of the ankles are protected by some nifty built-in round plastic armor pieces, and the boots have some reflective materials. Take the “View Larger Images” link above to see some good close-up shots of these boots.

This latest incarnation of the Jupiter boot is one of those “can’t go wrong” boots in its class. The Gore-Tex liner is the best and TCX makes great boots. And for a hiker style, this one has protection features better than most. :: Paul, 11-20-17
