TCX Fuel Waterproof Boots (Sold Out)

We find that TCX boots are generally an easy fit and they are consistent from one model to the next. And we have very good luck using their size chart to convert from US sizes to their Euro size. Go here to view the TCX Sizing Conversion Chart page for help in choosing a size.

We estimate the width to be about “D” or medium. These are slightly wider than Sidi boots and fit much like Alpinestars.

The top end of the shaft of this boot will hit your calf at about 11” up. The top opening isn’t adjustable so if you have big calves, you will want to measure to make sure the shaft of the boot is big enough. For example, the opening on a size 45 will fit a person with a max measurement of approximately 14”. I have pretty large calves and they are fine on me, so they’ll work for most people without concern.

The Fuel waterproof boot will be perfect for riders who like the look and feel of traditional motorcycle or work boots. The leather used on this boot is an “oiled” heavy duty leather. The leather isn’t the type that you polish, but rather they have a softer, sort of distressed finish like traditional work boots.

The toe area and heel are reinforced internally which is important in a motorcycle boot and there are also internal protectors on either side of the ankle bone which are hidden so you can’t see them in the pictures, but they are there and they are substantial. The sole is a heavy duty lug type sole with the visible heavy contrast stitching on top. This boot is substantial!

The fit of these boots is much like other TCX boots. The insides are lightly padded and so the boot feels great when on. That padding might get toasty in a hot climate so I’m going to recommend these for cold to warm weather; for hot weather, a boot with some mesh or venting would be more comfortable. The liner (and internal waterproof liner), and thick leather make this boot the closest thing we’ve got to an insulated boot (although it doesn’t specifically have insulation).

This boot is equipped with a waterproof barrier between the leather and the inner liner, and there is a gusset behind the side zipper to keep water out up to about 3” from the top (see our close up photos for that). I don’t think repeated soakings on a leather boot is a good idea in general, but if you do find yourself in the rain occasionally, these should do the job of keeping the water out. The boots have a side zipper which gives you easy-on, easy-off convenience! The zipper is important too so that the boot is cut more snug through the instep and ankle protection than slip on boots would otherwise be, and when zipped up on the foot, they will be much more likely not to fly off in an accident as compared to slip on boots.

I know lots of men who wear this style of boot nearly every day for work and once you get used to something, it feels comfortable to stick with a similar style, so it is nice to see a motorcycle boot like this with serious protective features become available. :: Paul, 02-06-17
