Sizing Information
We find TCX boots to be very consistent in fit from one model to the next. We checked this boot and it too is consistent with other models. To choose a size, please click here to see the TCX size chart. The general width of TCX is “medium” or D to E. To compare to other brands you may have experience with, I’d say the overall fit is somewhere between a Sidi boot which is generally a bit more narrow and an Alpinestars boot which has a more generous width.

The TCX Airwire Surround GTX boots are an excellent choice for warm weather waterproof boots.
The Airwire Surround GTX boots get their name from the Gore-Tex membrane and the Gore-Tex Surround sole technology. Everyone knows how great the Gore-Tex membrane is as keeping water out while allowing the interior of the boot to breathe, but the new Gore-Tex Surround sole allows 360° breathability thanks to the ventilation grid within that has several openings to the outside air along the side of the boots. This new avenue of moisture and heat exiting will keep your feet even cooler in hot weather.
TCX has covered the majority of the upper on the Airwire Surround GTX boots with a breathable fabric that has elasticity and high abrasion resistance. This material will allow air to flow across the internal Gore-Tex membrane and help it perform to its peak in extreme conditions.
The sole of the boots are mostly flat with some patterns etched in for grip on and off the bike. This sole is very stiff for protection but flexes enough at the toe box for comfort when walking. The toe, heel counter, and malleolus are all reinforced and the toe also has a TPU shift pad. At the rear of the boot, there is a small reflective patch for nighttime visibility. One thing I really like about this style is the inclusion of the hook and loop strap to secure the instep. Usually, you only see the main hook and loop closure at the top or along the side so you do not have any adjustment in a touring boot, it is nice to see this strap allowing you to get a more secure fit across the top of the foot.
The TCX Airwire Surround GTX boots are a fantastic option for riders in warmer climates that regularly have to deal with rain. These boots will keep you cool and dry wherever your adventures take you. I would say this boot will work for 3 seasons, everything down to extreme cold weather. :: Mike, 08/01/2022
