Sizing Information

We tried on a selection of sizes in this boot and found it to fit us just about right as compared to the stated size, so I’d advise you to buy the size you normally wear in men’s street shoes. If you are between sizes, I’d recommend the smaller since the toe box is quite roomy.

I’d estimate the width as “D” or “E” which is a touch wider than the average shoe. The boots lace up, so there is a lot of adjustability for fit as long as the length is right.

Our Two Cents

The Stormhawk Waterproof Boot by Icon is new for 2021. This is a mid-height, all-purpose riding boot with an integrated waterproof lining and the easy BOA lacing system.

First of all, I’m a big fan of how easy this boot goes on and off my foot! We’ve seen other boots with the quick-lacing BOA system, but this setup seems especially easy to operate. Just pull out the knob and the boot opens up for easy entry, then pop the knob down and give it a quick twist, and the laces snug up the boot quickly and evenly. There are even a couple of handy pull straps up by the padded neck of the boot to help you pull them on (although I found it easy enough to just push my foot in). I like it!

I have the Gray color selection in front of me and I really like the styling. I’d call it “modern military”. The boot has all the key protection features too. The ankles bones have D3O armor ankle inserts over them, the heel and toe areas are well reinforced and the sole has a reinforced shank to make it reasonably stiff.

This boot has an integrated waterproof lining between the leather outer and the inner lining to keep your feet dry in case of rain. Speaking of lining, this boot’s liner is nicely padded and well finished in nylon. Icon talks about an “eVent” waterproof lining. I’m not sure what that means other than a reference to their own “branded” waterproof lining material. As far as I know, it is similar to other waterproof/breathable liners in that it keeps liquid water out, but allows foot moisture to escape. But I don’t see anything that looks specially “vented”. Anyway, it all looks great to me and stylish enough to wear either on or off the bike. I’m tempted to pick up a pair myself! :: Paul, 04-19-21
