Sizing Information
We tried on a sampling of these shoes and thought the fit was true to the stated size. If anything, they’re a bit on the shorter side, so if you are between sizes, I’d advise you to choose larger. The width is “normal” or “D”. Take the “View Larger Images” link above to see the height measurements.
Our Two Cents
After taking a look at this new shoe from Speed and Strength, I checked other store’s reviews to compare what they had to say against what I see. Others are saying these shoes are significantly more protective than a regular sneaker because of the thicker leather, reinforced sole and reinforced toe and heel box. But let me tell you folks, don’t buy this shoe with the idea it is protective because it isn’t. If you plan to ride and want a shoe that will provide some significant protection for you in case of a fall, there are LOTS of other good choices.
Yes, it is a nice shoe and feels well built. The leather is indeed thicker and the liner of the boot is more robust than regular sneakers… more like a hiker. And the heel and toe areas do have reinforcements, but nothing more than you’d find in any other street shoe. The sole does not include a shank and there is no ankle armor.
As of this writing, we offer the Run with the Bulls Moto shoe and also the Black 9 shoes, and now these Soul Shaker boots, all from Speed and Strength, which are all quite similar. I would regard them as “enthusiast” street shoes and for that, they’ll be great, but as protective motorcycle gear?, not so much. :: Paul, 08-10-16 (more about less-than-favorable reviews)
