Sizing Information

Visit our Sidi Sizing Information page for complete size conversion info (ladies can use the chart at the bottom of the page). Sidi boots typically fit very consistently from one model to the next and this boot is no exception. We feel the size chart represents the fit very well. Width is “normal”, which is C or D in US shoe sizes.

Our Two Cents

Sidi’s new Duna boots are new for 2019. This is a re-style of one of their classic short lace-up boots from years past… the Doha, which was a best seller for years.

The Duna Special (sold on this product page) is similar to the non-waterproof Duna, but has a special closure mechanism to replace standard laces. The closure is a high tension thin nylon cord which uses a mechanical ‘takeup” to tighten/loosen. The laces are captured in special eyelets so you’ll never have to lace up the boots again. They are really easy to put on and take off and are infintely adjustable. And unlike manual laces, the boot tightens/loosens uniformly over the top of the foot with a simple twist as compared to having the fiddle with a bunch of laces weaved through eyelets. And there is the added safety benefit of not having loose laces potentially hanging up on a bike part, which could damage your ego at best or worse. Note: I don’t know why Sidi uses the word “magnetic” in their product literature when describing the closure mechanism. I don’t see anything “magnetic” here… its a mechanical ratchet.

“Non-Special” Duna boots are offered in two versions… a standard street boot and a version with a waterproof Gore-Tex liner logically named the Duna Gore-Tex boot (take the links below to view these).

All the Duna boots are lightweight and easy to wear, and they’ll work great both on and off the bike. The boots have integrated impact protectors in each side of your ankle bones, which are behind the interior padding so they don’t bother your ankles. The toe and heel areas have internal stiffeners for protection and to keep the toe area from collapsing from pushing on a bike shifter. On the toe is an extra wrap of material for wear resistance to the shifter.

The upper material is part suede leather and part textile. The combination is lightweight and easy to wear. The sole is flexible enough to be comfortable off the bike but also has a stiffener in the shank area, which is important in a bike shoe so it doesn’t fold up if you put weight on your pegs. On the outside of the shoe are patches of bright reflective materials for nighttime visibility.

If I didn’t need a waterproof boot, I’d definitely pop for the closure setup of the Duna Special. I like how it looks and how it works. And there is the added safety benefit.

We’re glad to see the Duna boot back in the Sidi lineup because it’s always been a favorite simple street style. :: Paul, 04-24-19
