Sizing Information
We found this shoe to be sized correctly for length, so choose the size you normally wear in a men’s shoe. The width is considered “D” or “normal”. If you are between sizes, I’d recommend choosing the smaller as we found the overall fit to be slightly generous.
Our Two Cents
The Slayer Riding Shoes by Cortech are a new 2019 design for all kinds of street riders. These shoes have a nice look with a leather and suede upper.
I just looked over the Freshman shoe and really like it. This shoe is nice also. What’s the difference? Well, the main two things are: this shoe is a leather and suede upper and is NOT waterproof and the Freshman is canvas with leather accents and IS waterproof. It makes sense this leather/suede shoe wouldn’t include a waterproof liner because I really don’t think this one would hold up well to being soaked like the canvas Freshman.
The nice things I said about the Freshman also apply here: Wow, I’m impressed with the overall “heft” of these new Cortech riding shoes. Normally when we see new shoes that “look” like these, we offer advice that they aren’t much more than ordinary sneakers, but these are surprisingly sturdy. There is plenty of reinforcement over the toe area and around the heel. And like most other riding shoes, these have armor inserts on either side of the ankles, but in this shoe, the ankle armor is large and is pre-cupped to be comfortable. The sole is more “ordinary”, but it does have some sort of stiffening in the arch, where most don’t.
Both color choices come with both white and black laces, so the color really refers only to the sole.
Overall, I’m a fan of this new shoe due to the rugged design and the reasonable price. I think these are better than most I’ve seen. :: Paul, 09-11-19
