Sizing Information

As of this writing, Tour Master hasn’t published a size chart specific to this new jacket, but we checked them out with our mannequins and also with a tape and I’ve put together the chart below which should work just fine.

We tried this jacket on our Fit Check mannequins and thought they fit great. Huey is wearing a Medium and Dewey is wearing an XL (take the “View Larger Images” link above to see those pictures).

We recommend you buy the size you normally buy in men’s clothing. These jackets are also available in tall sizes. If you normally buy tall shirts (or other clothing), then these will work for you. The sleeve length and torso length of a tall is about 1 1/2” longer than the corresponding regular size.

Here is a chart we put together for this style. Sleeve lengths listed are from the shoulder seam to the end of the arm cuff.

Alpha Size Max Chest Size Sleeve Length Tall Sleeve Length
XS 38 25.5 -
Small 40 26 -
Medium 42 26.5 28.5
Large 44 27 29
XL 46 27.5 29.5
XXL 48 28 30
XXXL 50 28 30.5
XXXXL 52 28.5 -

Our Two Cents

This new “Advanced” jacket is the “better” jacket of Tour Master’s good/better/best jacket lineup for 2016. The Saber 4.0 is the “good” and the Transition 4 is the “best”. I think this Advanced jacket strikes a good balance in price and features, and it gives you most everything you’ll need for street, touring or commuting.

The usable temp range for this jacket would be cold to mild temps. It does have some zippered venting, but it also has a fixed waterproof liner situated behind the main outer shell. That waterproof liner will do a great job at keeping water out because it has no openings, zippers, vents etc to compromise its waterproofing capability. But that sort of construction doesn’t lend itself to venting capability. Those zip vents will let air pass through the outer shell, but not past that inner rain barrier, so it won’t reach your skin. For the cold temps, the rain barrier acts as a wind barrier as well. And the jacket has a removable full sleeve thermal liner too. So in cold temps, you’ll really like this setup.

This jacket has plenty of pockets for storing your stuff. There are two chest pockets and two hand warmer pockets and a big fanny pocket too. Inside, there is one patch pocket and if you are using the thermal liner, that has two patch pockets.

Aside from the usual features, I like the overall length of the jacket; it is an easy fit for most people. The jacket cut doesn’t taper a lot from the max chest, but in a longer style like this, if you use the side waist adjusters, the jacket looks very tailored for those with slim waistlines. But even guys with a belly can enjoy the jacket too since the chest to waist taper is minimal.

And for this price point, the jacket has some nice styling features… the use of contrasting colors, the stenciled on reflective materials and the small but sharp red accents. Even the hi viz color is tastefully done and isn’t TOO high viz.

So overall, I like this style. There is a good mix of features and styling without too many complicated features. That helps keep the price reasonable and makes the jacket easy to use. And this one will be great for wet weather due to the liner construction. Heed the temperature advice though… this style works for cooler weather, but it won’t be your favorite in hot summer temps unless you are a fan of sauna suits for weight loss :) :: Paul, 09-01-15
