We measured and tried on a selection of these pants and developed the table below to help you choose a size that is right for you. In the chart below we are listing the max waist as measured with the adjustment straps fully open. This style has side Velcro adjusters which are quite effective and will snug the waist down by about 4” max to fine tune the fit. To make a selection, be sure to use your measured waist rather than your jean waist. Jeans are typically over-sized by one or two inches from the stated size, so if you go my your jeans waist you might wind up with pants that are too small.

Disclaimer: We did not have the largest sizes in stock to measure, so the measurements for sizes XXXL and above are an educated guess based upon what we measured in the other sizes.

These pants are available in regular, short and tall inseam sizes, so we’ve included inseam lengths in the chart as well. The pants have adjustability of the armor height and side-to-side position so you can set the position of the armor for the best fit.

Spidi’s Thunder H2Out pant are a trim style sport or touring pant made of textile material. They come with armor and a removable rain liner.

The shell of this pant is an abrasion resistant textile material. It’s not too thick so the cut of the pant can be trim. AND IT IS!. In fact, the fit of this pant is the thing that makes it stand out. They fit like a slim cut jean, which is unusual for a textile pant (not a riding jean). There are strips of slightly stretchy material in the crotch and on the backs of the knees to help you move better in a riding position. But don’t get me wrong… these pants aren’t only for skinny guys who wear slim jeans. I’m not a skinny guy and I could easily wear this style. In fact I like how they fit.

Molded armor is included for the hips and knees and it is pretty substantial stuff. But somehow it doesn’t show through the pant much, so when you wear the pants, they look just fine even with the thicker armor. It is nice that the armor for both the hips and knees is included with the pants. With many styles, you have to pay extra for hip and/or knee armor.

These pants come with a removable rain liner, so you can wear them in inclement weather. The rain pants fits in the pants and connects inside with simple fabric loops and snaps, so they are no big deal to use. The ends of the legs of the rain liner have a nice elastic band which fits snugly over your boots or shoes to keep water out. They’ll work especially well with shorter boots where water would be likely to come over the tops.

Without the rain liner installed, the pants should be pretty comfortable for warmer weather. As I said, the pants are made of relatively lighter material and there is also a zip-close vent on each side of the thigh to move some air though. The rain liner could also be used to make the pants more comfortable in colder weather because they will act as a wind block. So all together, I’d say these are a three season pant.

Because of the trim cut, I don’t think you’d want to try to use these pants over street clothes (like an overpant). They are really best suited to wear over underwear or base layers in cold weather.

Like most other textile/sport style pants, these will zip to a Spidi jacket with waist zipper. The end of the leg has a roughly 12” zipper to help with getting your boots on and snugging down the pant over them, but you will have to take off your boots to put the pants on or take them off. :: Paul, 06-19-19
