We measured and tried on a selection of these pants and we developed a size chart to help you choose a size based upon your waist and inseam. The size chart below is partially ours and partially REV’IT’s chart. The largest waist size listed in the chart are with the waist adjusters full open. The waist size adjustment straps work pretty well to give you size adjustability… we estimate about 2” as the range indicates.
As you can see in the chart, the pants are available in regular, short and tall inseam sizes, so choose the inseam you normally wear in slacks or jeans. The pants also have adjustability of the armor height (independent of inseam length) which can be accessed by pulling each leg inside out (see our photo gallery for a pic of this). Velcro allows you to set the armor in different spots and you can check how the armor feels on your knee when you are sitting on the bike and decide which position seems best.
|Pant Size||Waist Range||Inseam Reg||Inseam Short||Inseam Tall|
Measurement tip: With a style like this that MAY be used as an overpant, you’ll want to measure your waist over the clothing you intend to wear under the pants. And measure yourself fairly high up the waist because protective style pants like this are cut to ride higher on your waist than a lot of modern jean styles (so relying just upon the size jeans you buy might result in motorcycle pants that are too small). Right below the navel is about the right height on the waist for measurement.
Our Two Cents
The Neptune 2 GTX jacket and pants from REVIT is an outfit designed for the street rider and commuter. The materials are a bit lighter than you’ll find on REVIT’s more “beefy” styles which are aimed at adventure riding. With lighter materials, you’ll be able to cover the four seasons with ease. Full armor is included in the pants with CE level 2 armor in the knees and level 1 armor in the hips.
The Neptune 2 GTX is set up with a basic exterior shell along with two removable liners. One liner is a Genuine Gore-Tex rain liner and the other is a full length quilted thermal liner. So you can use one, both or neither depending on the circumstances. With both the Gore-Tex liner and thermal liner installed, you’ll be able to handle some pretty darn low temps. But with both out, the shell is a fairly lightweight and well vented.
REVIT has incorporated two large thigh vents into this pant. It is not just a zippered vent, but its a whole panel that opens and folds back to expose are pretty large area on the front of your leg to grab the passing air. Those panels stay closed with Velcro and a side zipper so all you have to do to deploy the venting is to raise the zipper and grab the edge of the flap and yank it open. And then secure the corner of the flap to the snap that is built in. You could do it easily without looking.
The overall look of these pants is typical of high-end adventure or touring pants and would work with a variety of jackets but are specifically made to match the Neptune 2 GTX jacket (see the link below) The pants have both a short rear and long zipper at the waist to make them compatible with REVIT jackets. Also, you can use REVIT’s Strapper Suspenders (see the link below). Those suspenders are a great product to use with heavy duty pants like this. You can comfortably keep them up on your waist without cranking down the waist.
CE level 2 armor is used in the knees and level 1 in the hips, which about as heavy duty as it gets. Large reflective panels are incorporated into the graphic design on the outside of the leg to give you some visibility at night. Like other REVIT pant styles, the waist on these pants is adjustable and they have the best waist closure in the business….the “slide lock” (see the pictures). The lower legs are adjustable with snaps. The ends of the legs have a wide Velcro strap to help you get the right fit over your boots. The leg end is pretty wide at the largest opening so they should work with just about any kind of boot. :: Paul, 10-18-18
